I have a second hand small car of 1999 model which I owned in June 2009. It was well maintained and served me well. But , nowadays I have been witnessing one or other problems like the starting problem, some electrical problems etc.
The latest was the Gear problem. Daewoo Matiz has an unique gear mechanism which are being commonly used in SUVs. The wire was snapped from it`s place and I was able to engage only back gear. My family technician visited my car, parked inside my shed and did `something` so that at least fourth gear could be engaged. He advised me to bring the car to his workshop for full repair.
What an experience it was to start moving the car in top gear and reach to the workshop...... It was 6PM and the job was started. I was told that it would take two hours. As I had nothing to do, I also immersed myself to the repair work which was being done by the mechanic and his 16 years old helper.
Some one hour of job was done and suddenly his mobile phone rang. He came to know that he had been blessed with a son. But, what I saw that he continued repairing as if nothing happened. Upon asked he said, ``For me customer is the first priority, I shall complete my job, then I shall visit my family.``
What a show of professionalism by Mr saini of sector 48 Chandigarh. I salute him.
He does not have any formal qualification but is master of his trade. By 0845PM my job was accomplished. He never seemed in hurry while doing my job. He says, ``sir being in hurry and doing a maintenance job normally takes more time as errors are committed and one has to undo it sooner or later. I do not want any such suffering to my customers due to my inferior work culture.``
I tried to paid him more than he asked, but he took only that amount which was demanded by him.
I wish that every technician be like him.
