Look, what I learnt today?

By: RAJESH.SINHA | Posted Dec 11, 2011 | What I did today? | 1429 Views | (Updated Dec 11, 2011 10:08 PM)

My mother in lawwas coming to Kanpur from Bihar. My car was not serviceable. I took my bike and went for receiving her.

The train was indeed overloaded. But, as I was knowing the Boggy No, she was located and helped to come out. But, the luggage was awesome. She had two big plastic bags full of materials like home grown vegetables, fruits and some prepared eatables for me. The luggage also included two sky bags, fully loaded with all the personal items.

I searched for some collie, but did not find one. I, being a fauzi, remembered my tough training days of initial years. I gave the lighter skybag to my mother in law to carry and took one at my back and the big plastic bags on my two hands.

But, with the enormous load, moving ten steps was a big challenge for me. We were at platform No 3 and had to cross one pool, full of moving persons. I could never maintain my desired pace. Irritation crept in more and more as I could not show it to my mother in law. At one instance, I felt that enough was enough.

But, giving up was a humiliating option for me. I carried on. In next 15 minutes I was outside the station. My both the hands, including the ten fingers were shaking from inside. But, I felt as if I conquered Mount Everest!!

I learnt that one should always keep himself/herself fit to as much degree as possible. It ALWAYS helps. Being physically also keeping mentally agile and up.

Friends, please keep yourself into a wellness system. Be as much close as possible to nature. It ALWAYS pays.

A lesson in benefits of physical conditioning. The other option could have been of asking your MIL share some of the burden. You could have considered selling off the green veggies at the station too. I remember that my mother also gave me such veggies when I was travelling from Dun to Delhi, for another relative of mine. Now when you are making a journey in Indian trains and transport system, one should weight the positives of ferrying such home grown stuff in the money saved and the love expressed against the cost that the person who traffics it might have to pay.
With my share of two bags, one on my back and the other one in my hand, what these veggies did was engage my other hand as well. One free hand when you are travelling can mean a world of difference.
A seasoned traveller can make it with these impediments but a rookie might make a mistake or two while dealing with multiple baggages and in the process ,
(a) Lose his ticket
(b) Have his wallet stolen
(c) Get stuck in traffic

Basically, he's more vulnerable this way and the positives are clearly offset by the negatives that may result. So we should educate the elderly about these issues so that they find other ways of showering their love on us rather than ferry home grown stuff that is available locally as well. (I plan to write his as a blog myself now that i have written more than a 100 words)

you have given a very good example of how fitness counts in daily life....people are too casual about fitness & find excuses to avoid anything related to fitness (exercise, proper food)...but there are lots of advantages of being fit..apart from health benefits, it also helps you lead a better life...keep sharing..tc......Read More

Hi Amit, I appreciate your comment, such long one, like a blog itself.

But, I would like to say that, there can not be an alternative for organic food, which my mother brought for us. Market vegetables are a compulsion for sure for all of us.

I am proud that my mother brought those pure veggie for me.
