*** Stand Promoted ***

By: RAJESH.SINHA | Posted May 24, 2011 | What I did today? | 1082 Views | (Updated May 29, 2011 02:04 PM)

Transfer is an inevitable part of a defence personnel. I stand posted out from Chandigarh. My duty area is in Kanpur, one of the biggest city of UP.

Though, Kanpur stands no where near to Chandigarh in terms of Cleanness, wish to abide law in full among the general public, road discipline etc but it has few merits too as the cost of living is considerably low as compared to most of the big cities in India. As far as Air force station is concerned, it is as impressive as the Air Force station Chandigarh.

I was on promotion posting to Kanpur. But God wanted to give me a small challenge that day.

My father in law Mr A K Choudhary is a project manager in Rania( 40 Km from Kanpur). As my family is not with me due to posting for few weeks, I was residing with my father in law for few days. My promotion was on Saturday at 0715 hrs.

I started at 0535 in the morning. No sooner than I started on my bike than a very heavy dust storm started. I had planned an average speed of 55-60 Km/hr. But this storm forced me to remain at 35-40 upto 35 long Km.

My uniform was already placed in a room in AFS kanpur. I arrived at 0650 and got engaged in re ironing of my uniform with the higher rank. I was feeling great even while ironing as getting rank in armed forces is one of the most interesting times for a fauji as it is hard earned every time.

At 0715, I was in the headquarter in my best uniform. The Commanding officer congratulated me and gave me a motivation lecture which filled my heart with more pride being an air warrior. I distributed sweets to all present there.

I called my parents, wife, daughter and in laws on my mobile and received blessings.

I assure all my countrymen once again that our country is in safe hands. You all keep doing the good work for the country in your own capacity.

Jai Hind. God bless all.
