The picture attached with this post is my computer wallpaper. I like looking at it whenever I take a breather from work. The sight never fails to soothe my tired mind. The incorruptible innocence of Winnie and his friends never fails to gladden my heart.
I wonder why I find Winnie’s world so attractive. Is it because this world is so playful yet so serene? Is it because it is always full of a special sunlight that is bright but never hot? Or maybe because Winnie and his friends find working together so easy, because nobody is so busy that they can’t give their friends the time of the day. They eat together, work together, play together, even take naps together! This is the world I wish I lived in. This is the world I usually escape to in my daydreams…..
After working on a presentation for two straight hours today, I sat back to drink my cup of tea in peace. As I sipped the hot brew, my eyes fell on the desktop and the familiar happy scene. Oh so inviting it was! I closed my eyes and was soon transported to this wonderland. I was one of them now - rolling on the soft grass, soaking in that happy sunshine, taking in the fragrance and colours of all the flowers around, smiling to myself as a couple butterflies landed on my face and took off almost immediately. Winnie offered me his ever-ready pot of honey and I eagerly dipped my finger in it...
RRIIING!
The intercom buzzed and my hand automatically picked up the receiver.
“How is the presentation coming along Shalu?”, asked my boss.
“Will be done in another 15 minutes”, I said on auto pilot.
“Okay”.
I replaced the receiver with a sigh. Daydreams are such delicate things, they break at the smallest of interruptions. I glanced again at the image in front of me and my friends looked back at me as if saying, “Don’t worry! We are always here. You are welcome back anytime.”
I nodded with a smile and opened the presentation again feeling rejuvenated. Bye bye wonderland, hello real life.
