MY HEART GOES OUT TO THEM!!

By: Radagast | Posted Jan 08, 2014 | General | 568 Views | (Updated Jan 10, 2014 12:44 PM)

December the 2nd,1993.This date will be remembered by many for Mr and Mrs Bhattacharya's third child birth,"by many" I mean basically the staff of Blue cross nursing home. This date was very auspicious for them or should I say I made it auspicious for them. This embarks our initial visits for doctor appointments in this hospital becoming more or less easy. The reason being on and from that date.We just had to say,"Hello,is Dr.Amit available for appointment",The phone replied, "Yes,please state your name and time of arrival",We said,"Tell him its the Bhattacharya's".I don't know what happened to them as soon as they heard this title. The receptionist holding the phone shrieked and ushered,"Ohhhhhh!Ahhhhh!Dr.Amit has still not arrived, and probably will not today, why don't you try to call tomorr. I mean next wee.I mean next month and pale-fully uttered THANK YOU! before putting back the phone with a thunderclap.Even in this age now I was sure that was to make my parents annoyed and try another hospital.Still it never seizes to amaze me their attachment to this hospital.Even though my sis and bro got their birth dates hoisted in different hospitals what did I do to to keep my family's consolidation up-to-date.Keeping that in mind I asked my Father what did I exactly do on that very date.Actually he had told me several times this ambiguous incident still I kept forgetting about it every single time during my childhood days.He began," The day was very special for me and your mother. You had decided on a bad time to knock on the door as It was 5:00 am in the morning and I had gone for a jog. When the maid came running like a warthog. To be frank I had never seen the maid come to work that fast and literally panting her lungs out in a exhilarating way she said,"Its your wife she has gone into labour".Once I got to hear those words it was like somebody had set a rocket on fire.I rushed so fiercely that near our hands ahhhhh! never mind. That is when I stopped him and said you got to tell me the whole scenario otherwise you won't get your snuff.Me to readers,"My dad is addicted to snuff and only it can make him talk".Meanwhile he said,"Oh! alright ah! actually it is a bit embarrassing,I will tell you anyways. My pants had snicked loose because of the jerking and have you got it now or have I got to explain further."I was in no intention of continuing this bizarre hilarious incident".So, I said,"ok" get to the point when you took mom to the hospital".

Well we had hunted for each and every hospitals on that early morning hour like a predator hunting for its feast, plus It was a cold winter morning.I hands began to feel like ice-cubes when we found Blue cross.I said to myself,"Now we are getting into the fun part.He continued,"I don't know what time you thought was good to make everybody feel your presence but the hospital was practically almost empty.Bearing some old farts with severe arthritis problems, fire injury bearers and quite a sum of nurses.Well so it happened that all the old farts were enjoying telly with bitter juice and doctors performing surgeries on the fire victims. When your mother shrieked and shouted while gouging to bed off.As soon as she began I knew very well that,"the old farts will drop from their beds and get a high BP,the doctors performing their tasks had to multitask and rectify their mistakes as I certainly didn't expect nurses from different rooms coming to hold your mothers hand.I didn't know what to do, be tensed or go mad with so much commotion.Until your cry came and made my day wonders well that's what I thought and ah.I said,"Thought what".He said,"Well get to it later. The nurse came out to surprise me with your first glimpse and those very words I will never forget,"Its a boy".I got inside to see your mother and had a brief chat before I went out to finalize the bills for payment until she was discharged. When suddenly I saw a sick 10 year old girl(Well that's what I thought looking at her) being rushed to the I.C.U and followed by a worried old gentleman of 40 who was shaking as hell like he had gone into seizure.I thought another one of those accidental cases I presume. While I was clearing my dues I met a dearest who worked at home some time ago.He said,"What brings you here".After I told him he congratulated me and said,"Get ready to toil harder".I said,"yup,on it".Even thought I was quite distracted I didn't forget to ask,"What brings you here mate".He said,"Well, its my colleague's daughter who had a cardiac problem from childhood and suffered a cardiac arrest has just now been admitted".I was little rattled and said,"sad to hear".He said," yes, didn't you notice a patient being taken on a stretcher and a old man following him he is one".Even though I had noticed far better,"I pretended and said oh! didn't notice".It was then that the nurse told she needs to stay here for one more day,you can clear up rest of the formalities tomorrow.I Said to my friend,"ok",then catch you later and I am sure she will be alright".He said,"Hope so" and left.

The next day I came rising and shining blissful but for some reason my day turned into of deluge filling my heart with dark clouds. When I found my friend sitting outside a room tensed,"I approached him and asked if everything was fine.He said,"Its her father he has suffered a brutal accident near the hospital and in coma".I was stunned to hear that I mean it was only yesterday he was angst at his daughter admission and suddenly this.I thought,"oh! my god sometimes god doesn't look into the family".I asked him,"What about his daughter is she fine".He said,"Not good news her cardiac muscles had completely depleted she needs a donor.I said to him,"What about her mother where is she".He said,"Her mother passed away during her birth".I said,"she needs a heart have the doctors found any".He said,"He said that they are checking their inventory and we were ready to pay a handy sum".I said,"I see you're helping them".He said,"her father is just a peon in my office I should shouldn't I".I said,"off course you should".When the doctor came out and asked my friend for a assignation.I kept sitting there in bewilderment forgetting why I was here in this hospital. He came and just almost sank into his seat and said,"Her father wants to donate his heart to her daughter since they could not find a heart".I said,"What? didn't you try to reason with him I mean it is blasphemy right!".He said,"Yes,but the doctor said he does not want to reason with anyone she is his daughter and she will live".I said,"But,there are severe complications in transfusing a 40 year old's heart into a 16 year old and who will take care of that girl".He said,"The doctor said its his personal decision and since the right is bestowed upon him they will follow his orders besides according to him it was better to see her alive than to see her rot".With that exclamation my friend broke in tears he obviously needed a shoulder.I did get to feel his pain when his wretched burst out in grief. After that day I met the girl personally on the day of the funeral and she was far better now not having to bear a paralyzed soul. The very flames of the carcass haunts me till today of how I witnessed a girl's life desecrated.Anyways,on and from that day I have not heard from my friend nor the girl.

Turning to me my father said,"I am sorry I am so foolish to not tell you the part why you made that day famous for everybody in that hospital".I said,"Yes"noticing the break in his voice. He said,"When I visited your mother's cabin you were being carried by every single nurse she was friendly with and you definitely made your presence felt not like annie and your brother.I said,"do you wanna know what you did".I said,"yes" very avid and intrigued. He said,"you, you made the nurses change their clothes. With that we both broke into laughter ignoring the very fact that for some in that hospital it was not me who made their day special. There were quite a few whose life continued the same.An auspicious occasion is not special for everybody even in that day a calamity could strike to utmost severity. The girl resembled annie(made a mention of her in my previous blog).Truly,my heart goes out to the girl and especially her father.Who gave his life to save her precious flower.
