Fruits at traffic junctions

Hello Readers,

A word of caution - all of us have come across the grimy vendors who sell a variety of fruits at the signals at throw away prices. It's really tempting to see crates of mangoes, strawberries, kiwi and whatever, neatly packed and arranged temptingly, that too for a throwaway price.

I really don't know the reason why, but I assure you, that here the 'throw away' literally means that - one has to throw away the product 'coz it will most probably be unfit for human consumption. I learnt this the hard way when I bought a full tray of kiwi (27 nos) at the Bandra Turner Road junction for half the going price. Everything fine from the outside, but the inside, the fruit was bitter and inedible.

Also, in the movie 'Traffic Signal' we have all seen the way the vendors apply spit and use such other objectionable methods to get the shine on the products, so i'm not even getting into the hygiene part...!

Going forward, I definitely would not be patronising them. Request all readers to use your discretion.
