The Traffic Signal...

“Raha pe chalte hai, Yadon pe basar karte hai, kush raho aehele watan .. Oooo… Hum to safar karte hai” last few days I have been humming this song (and only these two lines that I know) on my way to office… the ride to office and back is something that I really look forward to and it makes me feel on the top of the world then..

Last evening while I was waiting at the signal, I realized that did I ever think the signal would teach me something.... and do you think I would leave this opportunity not to share this on MS through my diary.... so here it goes buddies…

We may speed up or stick to the left and go slow, but we all have to halt at the signal, no matter what, whether we are in a hurry or not, whether we want to wait or not or who we are or where we come from. Looking around me, there were so many people and vehicles. Most closest to me were the two wheelers, we are always finding our ways through corners and manage to come right in front so that we are able to speed leaving the rest behind (and more bcoz we are always in a hurry), then there were big cars and small cars…. the most expensive cars and the cheapest cycle.. The Red light is common for all... as if showing our belief in “Unity” or rather forced to be “United” the latter is more practical these days…. and people of all types have no choice but to wait there… they maybe a CEO or the VP of a company, in the most expensive or luxurious cars, or the daily wage owner or the passengers in the Autos, Buses or Taxis.. Be it the man with loads of goods on a handcart or a woman in her car loaded with her shopping bags… All of us from different caste and religion, rich or poor…even vehicles are of different shapes and sizes and of various colors too.. All wait together…coz the Red light makes us do so…

But the moment the signal goes Green … All flee… the ones who keep moving little by little when the Red light is on… speed up as if nothing else matters to them…then the rest follow only to get separated... Some to the left, some to the right and the rest in the middle.. Being where they were and slowly moving on… n not forgetting the bikers who have fled already….many a times we make way for big and zooming vehicles, just like in real life the mighty ones try n push us aside… finally all are driving, taking a space each of their own on the road… the attitude of many are seen when someone over takes them… then they speed too, to override the rest and prove themselves... n when they are done, the expression on their face is as if they have achieved all that they wanted in life just by overtaking someone…then at times I’ve personally experienced this, if a woman overtakes, men cant accept it…..... its all different and haywire after all are on their own….. gone is the unity we showed few minutes ago….and the Red light goes for a toss as if loosing its importance…. All want to be themselves and on their own, gaining freedom when the light goes green... but at the same time where we have separated the Red light has united a few more people together at least for sometime or at least by force….

Life does teach you a lesson in different ways... and the Signal made me see things like this.... though this post may not make sense to some or seem incomplete for the rest.. Though few may see it just as I ‘ ve seen it… but as of now that’s all that the Signal taught me.. So if my fellow mates here on MS can take this further or share their views on this, I’d be glad and feel the same – atthe Signal standing United with you all – in the signal of MS.

Cheers Liz..
