Recently a friend of mine passed this comment “Jab Pyar Kiya Gadhi Se To Pari Kya Cheez Hai” , I heard this before too, I asked this friend of mine.. why is he saying such a thing.. is his wife a donkey ? Why should he demean his love so much.. to this he replied, Dolls.. its not like that.. for me she’s the most beautiful woman on earth.. and like how a donkey is always looked down upon kinda animal.. but in real sense its not dumb like how one assumes it to be .. Infact a donkey has so much patience that it carries all the loads and just follows his masters command without any complaints.. its also a faithful animal which no one realizes. So if we take things positively my wife whether beautiful or not to others does not matter, in real life even if I had the opportunity to marry a fairy then too I wouldn’t, coz my wife means the world to me… I was very happy to hear this.. Blessed are such couples and such thoughtful minds..
I kept pondering over this statement… I remembered a play in the 8th standard that I really enjoyed the most since I played the role of Queen Titania. Of course then, the role was not that important for me, it was the costume that lured me to take up that role. In that play my role was that of Queen Titania, wife of King Oberon, but out of some spell by the king, Titania falls in love with a donkey But while she’s in love with the donkey, she gives him all the honor and respect that she would have given the her king making no comparisons between the king and donkey. This play just meant a play.. but years later now when I heard this statement “Jab Pyar Kiya Gadhi Se, To Pari Kya Cheez Hai”... I could connect to that play a bit, though the play and this sentence have nothing in common apart from falling in love with a donkey..
If we compare a donkey to a fairy.. Well there’s, firstly the looks, where the fairy takes all the marks, then a donkey would be a slow and steady animal and the fairy quick in everything she does with her Jaadu ki chhadi… . If one actually thinks then this line speaks volumes for itself.. it actually gave me a lot of meaning n depth to what Love is - it is Unconditional, its indeed blind that’s why it sees no caste, color, or beauty , age or even gender for that matter. I agree there are exceptions where one falls in love for the physical beauty or appearance but in real sense or real meaning of love, I don’t think it ever exists. The fact also remains intact that love just happens , one cant plan it that’s why I think we find people falling in love with much older or much younger partners or an inter caste marriage, knowing all odds and norms of our own caste n religion, wanting to still go against our parents whom we do love so much.. Well Love really need not see whom your falling in love with.. How old, or how rich, or how good looking that person is....its just meant to be that way..
Recently we celebrated my parents 50ths wedding anniversary.. They had not even seen each other before marriage.. And yet to be married and to be living together for that long is a remarkable achievement.. it’s a proof of true love and true commitment, also of One Love and One Commitment for Life Long.. Love is about 2 minds, 2 souls, 2 hearts, and not about 2 bodies or 2 faces…
True love is skin deep.. it remains for ever.. never to fade never to die.. so the next time u hear this line “ Jab Pyar Kiya Gadhi Se to Pari Kya Cheez Hai” don’t get offensive but take it as a compliment.. for guys I think this line would be “Jab Pyar Kiya Gadhe Se to Rajkumar Kya cheez hai” Coz Love rules the Mind and the Soul not the body or the face, status or class..coz all these may soon pass.. but Love is meant to stay…
I really don’t know if this post makes any sense to you ... If it does make sense to you then do lemme know.. if it does not.. then too lemme know…. where I could better it the next time…
Cheers Liz…
