I guess, there cannot be a better place than Mouth-shut to write this article. Please go through this, it will not take more than 5 minutes of your time.
This is a not a article, but I would like to highlight few things, that I see daily and these are the things that contribute greatly in hindering India's growth as a country.
India is a great country, no doubt in it. It has 'n' number of religions, 'n' number of languages etc and still we all are living happily and together, which is really great but there are few people among us, who take all these things so lightly, that, India's growth is at stake. Agree that, India is a huge country and there are very huge number of people with different kinds of mentality but this is my attempt to make India a better place.
Here are few things, that we Indians strictly do not follow,
Traffic rules : we always try to bypass the signals, pedestrians cross the road, where-ever possible and never follow the signals. Lane discipline is a rare thing we see here.
Spitting or littering : we Indians spit anywhere, we never dispose chocolate wrappers, plastic bags etc into the dustbin, if not dustbin at some corner.
Never follow Queue systems: Best example, I can give is at Petrol pumps, people are standing on Queue and some person enters like a Hero, goes straight to the beginning of the queue and most of the people do not even say something to him, by chance, if someone speaks against him, other people see him as if he is a fighter cat.
Do not respect Women: Making fun of a lone woman or girl, which is not at all good. No matter what, we should respect women, all of us depend on a women in one or another way, let it be a mother, sister, wife or a friend.
Cleanliness: One day, I met a person from America, Just came to know from him that, before coming to India, he took some 5-6 injections for preventions from malaria, jaundice etc. Isn't it so bad? Unfortunately, I have also seen a disinfectant being sprayed inside most of the planes taking off from India to other countries, so as to avoid transmission of any diseases from India. Each one of us think, what can I alone contribute in making India a cleaner place, so no one even attempts to make it cleaner.
Supporting Beggars: I do support beggars but not all of them, there are few people who really are unstable, physically ill or very old, those people really cannot support themselves, I do help them BUT not beggars like children, young men and women. I feel, why should we give them, is it not our hard earned money? Can't they also earn money by working hard? Infact by giving them money, we are supporting them, increasing the number of beggars in India, because begging is a easy way of earning.
Mis-using Public property: I don't think I should give any example for this, which one of our public service properties like Public bathrooms, bus stops, government vehicles etc are really clean or usable? We always blame the government for not maintaining them, but are we even trying to use them fairly? We scribble on bus seats, write mobile numbers, never flush after using the bathrooms and many more.
These are very few things, that I have seen and there are many more, which you also must have seen, so why not we take a oath among ourselves, that, "I will at-least follow basic rules voluntarily and also see that all my family members do "
Just imagine, how better place India would be, if all of us think this way?
Now I would be happy, even if one Indian reads this and starts following any one of the following.
