Ego

Maximum problems of the world are not because of anything else, but the one of the smallest words in English "E-G-O" - A person's sense of self - esteem or self importance. It is so easily defined in dictionary but so difficult to hide when we are in the middle of an argument. Is it good for us? Perhaps when we want to do something more constructive, it is a great tool. But most of the time it springs out when there is an argument that has a latent competition, or who cared for whom more, or when it is time to apologize. Most of us hate to call it as ego but would give it a more decent name as "self-respect". But self -respect truly draws admiration. It is not self -respect. We wear ego like a crown in our head and any threat to this "self importance" will not go down well with us. But we fail to go beyond this. Why is self-importance needed in the first place at all? I have asked a few people and they have said that it makes them feel confident. Others have said that it makes them feel good. But feel good feeling comes even when we do good or do something we like. It is so easy to replace "e" with "a" and make it "Ago"(precise meaning earlier), but how difficult to lock ego away to ensure that it does not show its face again. What do you do when the "Ego" comes between friendships and relationships? Leaving the thoughts open-ended. Hope my friends reading this may offer some useful insight!
