Many of us are happy because Kasav got the death Penalty for what he did on 26/11 at Mumbai? So what if it is after 530 damn days. They planned in 6 months & did so much of damage in Mumbai & we took 1 Year 5 Months & 10 days to announce the Verdict & we say that we are serious about fighting terrorism in India. Are we??? If yes, then why so much of time in announcing the punishment for Kasav & why wasting so much of money? I am sorry, why wasting so much of Public Money?
Now, some of us will say, its because of UPA govt & if NDA would have been there, Kasav would have got punishment very early. Some of us will say, our system is like that. or some other excuses. But folks, we are forgetting that its we, the general Public, who have elected UPA for the central govt (Either by voting or by not voting). Its we who created this system. If our house is dirty, we clean it up. If we go abroad, we'll behave as best guy or gal & follow the rules strictly. At the same tine when we are in India, we say "Chalta hai yaar. Chod na, kaun rules follow karega" (Its ok yaar, leave no, who'll follow the rules). WHY?
Govt. keep on saying that we are taking strict actions against terrorism. If thats the case, why India still a soft target for terrorism? Why terror attacks are still happening in India? That means, even strict actions are not enough. We may have to think outside the box to stop terrorism or at least reduce the number of attacks. We have many strict laws, but why it is not being implemented properly at the ground level?
I say directly or indirectly, we are also responsible for all these. How?
If we see some anti-law activities, we dont report to the police. Reason we give: Who'll report to Police. Everytime we have to go to the station & waste my time.
We give bribes to the govt. officials for work to happen in fast & ultra fast time & we say that govt. officials are corrupt. We are giving the reasons for them to become corrupt & we are only telling that they are corrupt.
and many more.
Everytime, we blame govt for not acting efficiently or we blame corrupt politicians. But, as I reported in my one of my previous diaries, Govt. can only create the scenarios & can only provide opportunities. Grabbing those opportunities & working in those scenarios are our responsibility. Every time we ask the same question: What has Govt. or this country given to us? Today I want to modify this question & ask to general public: What has we given to this govt.(weather its NDA or UPA) or to India? Just by paying tax or by voting doesn't makes us responsible citizens. We have to act responsibly against any wrong doings.
To start with, few basic things what we can do are:
Stop giving bribes to any one (Weather its a cop or any govt. official or anyone in this country)
Follow rules & regulations of this country.
Report any anti-law doings happening to the nearest Police Station.
If any one is asking bribe, report to anti-corruption beareu.
Am I asking too much to become a responsible citizen?
