To Shop or Not to ...?

Shopping online is the latest growing trend. It enables one to buy as per the ease and comfort. The online deals at times are quite tempting and sometimes especially when the product is slightly expensive we take the risk of buying it. Problem comes when the site isn't reliable.

Today I would like to share my experience of using online shopping in availing some good deals and a few bad ones.

Services: Restaurant / Salon Deals : It is always good to grab some restaurant coupons especially when you see an event like a birthday or anniversary approaching. We often tend to go out and you can be lucky to find the same restaurant deal online. Groupon.com/ Snapdeal are two such reliable site for good restaurant, salon deals.

Products : (Electronics etc.,) on Deals:To start on a positive note I would like to share my online shopping experience with flipkart.com. I bought a Prestige sandwich maker and when I found a manufacturing defect, the product was replaced with a new one within a week. The executives were quite understanding and had the right knowledge of the whole process.

Shopclues.com is a growing platform for online shopping of everything under the sun. They have this unique feature of Jaw Dropping Deals where one can buy deodorants, soaps at half of the half price. Few One Day Sales are also worth buying. You can as well be lucky to buy an 8 GB pendrive for just 130 bucks. At times they sell few useful goods like branded room freshener etc all for 29 bucks and 9, 19 or 29 as delivery charges.

The actual problem comes when one buys the electronics online.

I had the experience of buying a few electronics. I bought Jaipan Food Processor which was close to four thousand. There wasn't any manufacturing defect but then, when I mailed Jaipan asking for a help to understand how the Processor works, there wasn't any reply. The user manual didn't give all the necessary details.

When I didn't hear from Jaipan's customer care, the only thought I had was, a few electronics which the manufacturer fails to sell are sent to online portals like Shopclues and then they make the most of it by putting it on a tempting deal.

One more bad experience I had with Shopclues was during my purchase of Dell Wireless mouse. There was some connectivity issue with the bluetooth device and I realised it was a manufacturing defect. That was when I mailed the customer care executive of Shopclues asking for a replacement. They have ten days replacement policy. I was shocked when I was told to approach a Dell store to get confirmation of the defect and then forward the same to them for replacement.

It took some time for me to understand that all sites aren't professional like Flipkart or an Ebay. If your purchase is below 100 then you can take the risk of shopping online else it is better to take the pain of going out, checking the product well and then buying it.

Online recharge on a new site can be risky at times, but it's safe to get it done through the service provider's site like vodafone.in or rcom.co.in. Freecharge.in is one site which one can trust specially when it comes to ordering movie coupons equivalent to the recharge value by paying 10 extra bucks.

Thanks for reading and please feel free to add your thoughts and your take on Online Shopping.

Wish u a wonderful weekend.
