Nothing can't be more embarrassing than getting caught when you are lying. And nothing is more foolish than speaking without thinking.
I have been the victim of both. Of course the second one - Being foolish happened first.
Before I confuse you much let me give you the background of the situation I am sharing today. I work in a School, the strength isn't much and we have a close contact with both staff and students during the School Assembly.
Today we had an Open Assembly. Let me explain what that means.. Throughout the week we have the school assembly in a hall and on two specific days it happens in the ground or say the open area.. (Sunny and Bright! )
Today was one such fateful day.. Standing in the Sun and listening to one monologue after the other resulted in me shifting my attention to my own self, my thoughts and everything wonderful I could think of. That's what I generally do when I wish to take my mind of a problem : the problem here was the Heat. The absence of a Mike added to my comfort.
Before I could come out of my pensive mood, someone said - "who teaches English to the 7th Graders??" And that did Ring a bell and I stood up instantly, rather subconsciously. The next question was rather perplexing for me at that moment, it was - "How many students have submitted?" and I immediately said MOST OF THEM. In my mind I had the previous assembly (one before the spring break) in which students were given the task of reviewing a book.
I took THAT task quite seriously and made all my students submit a review and present the same in the class.
Here the Murphy's Law come into force - When you do something by putting in all the effort - Nobody takes a Note and the other side? Well, the one I am narrating..!
The next thing I was told was- "So only all the 7th Graders have submitted the ESSAY?"...
ESSAY??? I finally woke up... I immediately corrected myself... but then that was too late..
I felt the embarrassment of being a liar...! Anyways, I don't know when again I will get a chance to prove myself but I did learn a lesson..
I need to pay attention and I should be wide awake in the assembly or any meeting.. The CALL might not be far away...!
Thanks for Reading..!
