Hi all,

Hope all u guys are enjoying good health.

After a pretty long time, I am writing a Diary on MS. I thought I will take sometime to write about the place where I stayed for 1year and 7months and how I got it.

In Feb 2009, I was browsing the net in our Bangalore home and I got a call from my ex-colleague saying that there is an advertisement in the HAL website for some job vacancies. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited(HAL), needed applications from candidates for various posts. But shockingly, only ONE position was open. Being a Public Sector company, there would be heaps of applications from all over India. I too applied and after a few days got an acknowledgement saying that the application was received by post. I carried out my work with my then current employer. After 1+ months, I got a call from a number which was not familiar at all. I attended the call and it was from the HR department of HAL. I was surprised. They told that my application has been shortlisted for an interview. My joy knew no bounds. I was happy as it was a dream-come-true for any Aerospace engineer. I started to prepare for my interview and gave my full best to attend the interview. The interview was on 5.Apr.2009, on a Sunday. I travelled from Bangalore to Visakhapatnam, which is the nearest Airport and then booked a cab to go to Sunabeda. It was very hot as Visakha is a coastal town and humidity was really high. After reaching Salur, a village in AP, we reached a Ghat section. It became cooler as we went uphill. The roads were bad and after 2hrs, I reached HAL guest house. I was preparing for the interview till night 12 and slept. A Rat came in and bit my finger while I was asleep. I woke up and saw that sitting pretty above my head. Horrible. Then I decided to be awake the whole night and went for the interview next day morning. The interview was for over an hour and was thoroughly technical. I was able to do well-90%. Came back to Bangalore the next day and was waiting for almost 2months for my results. Nothing came. I decided to call the HR and asked him what the status was. He asked my name and said I was not selected this time. I was shocked to hear that.

I decided to move on with my then current employer. One day in the month of December, I got a call from my home and my mom told me that I got a letter from HAL. I said it may be some ticket refund and asked her to open it. After 5minutes she was overjoyed and said that I got an offer letter from HAL!! I was elated. Later, went home and was happy to see that and me and my wife were excited that we made it. Finally, had my medicals and other checks done and joined on 30.June.2010. Later on, I asked the HR that I was not selected by how I got a call. I was told that I was a wait listed candidate and the guy who was selected had joined. I was kept on waiting list and finally, I too was called.

Life was different as we were expecting our child by end July 2010. I was tensed as my wife in Chennai was carrying and anything may happen anytime. This place is some 1000km away. After a month I got a call one fine morning saying that my wife had delivered a baby boy. I was so excited and started the next day to see him. It was one of the best days of my life. After 4months, I decided to bring my wife to Orissa. Being winter start, it was getting cold in the evenings. We used to stay indoors and put on a heater and sleep early. Life was like this for almost more than a year and we really enjoyed life. The Vegetables are purely organic, fresh air, less crowd etc. It was a real unforgettable experience in life and now, I have moved out because of better career prospects. Really miss the life which I had.

A good place to be very minimalist and enjoy nature.

Cheers,

Narender.E.S.
