I am happy to write this post after 15+ days because am happy tht I hav a computer to do this.
Well, I wud rate that happeing as one of my worst experience in life and a good lesson learnt at the end.
On 5th of June, until 1330Hrs, I was happy browsing and was listening to songs on my Laptop. Suddenly, there were dark rain clouds and it was very windy. The weather was chill and was enjoyable. There was a power cut and laptop was on battery. So, after a while, I switched it off and went to play with my son. Within a few minutes, it started raining heavily accompanied by lightning and thunder. This continued for almost 45mins and I was happy watching the rain pour down.
At around 1600Hrs, I went out and came back and my wife told that the laptop was not booting. I panicked. I tried switching it on again and again but there was no response. Now, I checked my modem and it was dead. Called couple of my local friends and asked whether this happens to their PCs post rains. They said that it had happened and is because of this thunder, which is connected to telephone line it damages your modem. Since my modem was connected to PC, it had damaged my motherboard also. Since I stay in a remote part, the nearest service center is some 180km away and for an authorized service center it is more than 800km. I stayed without any time pass for over 15days and finally bought a Dell desk PC from a nearby vendor. Now my Acer laptop, two years old, without any trouble since new, is totally gone. And now given it for service in Chennai. Wish it can be fixed.
I was not aware that thunder could spoil gadgets. This has never happened in Chennai or Bangalore where I stayed earlier. A great lesson learnt and hope that this message helps you all in case if you are not aware of this fact.
