A person starts learning from the womb of his mother and since then it’s a long, never ending process of learning new things. Initially he starts learning from his parents and then from surroundings, friends, text books, laboratories and from life. Life is the best tutor anyone can ever ask for. I learnt a lot from the silver screen also. I wanted to mention a few of the movies who acted like good tutors for me leaving big marks on my conscience. The order below is not from best to better, it’s according to time I saw them, earlier to recent.
.Jerry Maguire: I am still a big fan of Tom Cruise and I watched the movie when I was in college and it gave me the initial idea about an ideal balance between professional and personal life. As I was a student with eyes full of dreams about making it big in my career, this movie acted like a good teacher warning me that you work hard to reach the top, but in the way don’t forget your near and dear ones. Today you may be selfishly concentrate only on you and your career and may become successful, but without your loved ones, you are too lonely to enjoy your success.
.Kuch Kuch Hota hai: I was a young man interested on opposite sex, you know the age. Had many good friends who are girls (not girlfriends in that sense… :D). There were some probable connections. After watching this movie, I learnt not to take anyone, who is your good friend and likes you too, take for granted. That way you can even lose a true friend who could stay with you throughout your life, both in ups and downs. You may not be as lucky as Rahul, your Anjali may not come back to your life forever.
.Forrest Gump: Wow, my number1 movie. I learnt a very valuable truth from this movie. It’s the beauty in simplicity. If you want to be happy, want to enjoy every bit of life’s tiniest gift, be as simple as you can, be a child, be an idiot. Do whatever you want to do in your life the way Forrest does. Wow a confirmed way to success. When he played table tenis he got honorary award from the President, when he decided to run, he ran like no other, when he decided to start a business, he became millionaire, when he loved someone he loved with full heart, when he is someone’s friend, it’s a friendship for life. This character impresses me the most till today. But for the world he is an idiot. So I taught myself, be an idiot like Forrest Gump (anyways now a day idiot is a cool word, thanks to Mr Bhagat, Mr Khan and Mr Chopra…).
.Iqbal: It’s not important what you are today, if you have passion, dedication and determination, you can reach your goal. The positivity this movie radiates is unparallel. Set your goal and don’t stop till you don’t reach there. I am very very thankful toNagesh Kukunoor and Mr Ghai for gifting us a movie like Iqbal. For me it’s not a movie but a good teacher that teaches me however worse the situation is, do not lose your view from your goal. Whenever I feel low, I watch this movie.
