There were questions on the security of women's in Delhi. Are they safe enough? Especially after what happened in Dec 2012. Are the women's safe world-wide?
After a very hectic day at the college I was headed back home. I had to scan some documents so I got down mid-way. I was constantly talking on my phone with one of my college friend. She was letting me know what all documents I would need to scan and submit the next day in college.
Ten minutes later:
Everything is just so messed up here! I better leave this crime scene or else I would be interrogated and asked 10 questions. Everyone surrounds a women who is in tears and shock, and looking at this I thank GOD from the bottom of my heart. If it was for me to replace that women I would surely go mad and furious at that point of time. Who were they? Were they professional? Do they operate in this area always? If yes, I'd better stop using my cell phone and hold on to all my valuables.
What exactly happened ten minuter before:
I was talking with my friend and discussing as to what all documents needed to be scanned. Meanwhile I realized two guys on a bike waiting, and the reason that I noticed these two guys were because they both were wearing a helmet. In Mumbai hardly the pillion rider wears helmet, and at times even the rider does not put on a helmet. This was what made me notice both the guys. It would have been of great help if I could have trace down the bike registration no.
They both had a put on a black jacket and a black helmet. There was a lady who was walking just in front of me, and she had a fat gold chain. Don't know whether that chain was made of real gold or was it roll gold. But after the two guys snatching the chain, it seemed as if the chain was made of real gold. The lady in front of me was walking and talking on the phone, and in a split of a second both the guys flicked off the gold chain. The lady was shocked for a second or two, and then she started shouting, but by that time both the guys fled away. The way she shouted, it was sure that she got serious injuries on her neck when the thief's snatched the chain.
It could have been me, and they snatching away my cell phone. This scene happened just few meters away from me and I was shocked to see this live. In this situation, it's almost difficult to track down the vehicle no, and so the thief's escaped easily.
I always used to see big banners of two guys on bike snatching chain's from a women's neck and used to feel that women's are normally targeted in such encounters and it's true. Women's especially who are all alone wearing gold chains and all are more vulnerable to such attacks.
Anyways I would prefer not using my cell phone while travelling as I could be a victim of such encounter myself. Beware and be safe girls!
