Award winning filmmaker Varun Mehta’s short film cum animation film studio ‘Wiz’ celebrated its 2nd anniversary on 28th of December in the studio office at Aligarh. Launched in 2012, set up as the only Independent studio to serve short and meaningful media production ‘Wiz’ marched ahead in its own league. When spoken to the founder himself, Varun told us about the Journey of Wiz in few words. “It’s been a great year for us again. This year we had something new to offer and work on. Besides the usual animation and media production projects, we also launched our first ‘Blossom Short Film Festival’ which was a massive success.”

“Besides, our short film ‘The Art of farming’ continued to earn accolades in International competitions and was screened on TV Channels. We also launched our first Short film production ‘My Last Visions’ which is receiving a thrilling response. The trailer of the film has accumulated more than 27,000 views on YT in nearly two weeks. We are looking forward to its release next year. But the main highlight I would say would be associating with the first upcoming ‘Momofilmfest’(Mobile Film Festival) which is to be scheduled next year in Switzerland. Organized by talented filmmaker ‘Si Horrocks’ and festival director ‘Andrea Holle’, It was an opportunity that just came my way and I feel proud to be associated with it.”

Considering there is not much of scope of Shorts and Animation in a city like Aligarh, Doesn’t it make him restless, to which Varun said “Luckily Internet comes as a saviour, it connects us to the people of our tastes. And the people whom we can look up to, its upto us to look and hunt for choices”. About his upcoming projects he told us “After we are done with ‘My Last Visions, I would be starting working on my animated project ‘The Hope’ which I announced last year. There is a lot of work to do already”.

We wish the filmmaker, and his studio team with their future endeavours a very best of luck, success and even a more successful coming year.
