Low end feature phones still remains nokia's forte especially in India where smartphone penetration is low. Nokia has maintained a low profile this MWC without a major release unlike other tech giants but yesterday by launching the lumia 720 and 520 and making it clear that WP8 phones need not come at a premium. This may revive the finnish manufacturers fortunes in India, atleast.

The Lumia 720 has the following features
1. A 4.3 inch clearblack WVGA (800 X 480) display
2. It has 512 MB of RAM with a 1 ghz dual core Snapdragon Processor (Krait exactly)
3. It is around 9mm thick or thin however you may like to call it
4. Has the same polycarbonate build of that of the 920 but much slimmer
5. Weighs around 128 grams
6. Has a 2000 mah Li-on Battery with the option for wireless charging but you need a seperate snap on cover for it.
7. Has a 6.7 MP rear camera with f/1.9 carl zeiss lens capable of 720 p video recording with a new Glam me functionality preloaded. It also has a 1.3 MP front camera with wide angle lens. The camera software is preloaded with Instagram like filters and a timeshift like feature.
8. The price of the mobile is 330 USD which comes to about Rs 17775 and will be available by Q2 this year.
The Lumia 520 has the following features
1. It has a 4 inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480 x 800 IPS LCD display.
2. It is one of the thicker lumia phone at 9.9 mm and feels quite bulky in the hand and is quite heavy for its size at 124 grams.
3. It has 512 MB of RAM with a 1 Ghz dual core snapdragon CPU, the same processor on the Lumia 720.
4. It has 8GB of onboard storage and a micro SD up to 64 GB using a micro SD card.
5. It has a 1430 mah Li-on Battery
6. It has 5 MP rear camera but no front camera. The camera can shoot 720 video at 30 fps.
7. The device is priced at 183$ which comes to Rs 9857 but expect it to come around Rs 12k by Q2 2013.
