Why is our society so moronic?

By: catscan | Posted Oct 19, 2010 | General | 516 Views

Ok, so I’m the last of the idealists alive and you know what, I hate how our society goes about its business. I think we just play along each others’ weaknesses, when really all of us are Narcissists, only concerned with ourselves.

Indian society apes American society because we don’t have a mind of our own. Recently, I read in a column in Mid Day that Americans do anything to get laid, and it’s a sad truth that we just ape them!

Actually, society is a lot more than individual desires and we have really devolved over the years, with our standards having stooped to all time lows. What if you don’t subscribe to society’s tenets? What if you think that the majority of people defining the way the rest of us live our lives is hopelessly flawed? And what if you don’t give a crap? Well, then you have to find a path out and cull out your own laws and live by them.

It’s everywhere, the way we dig our own graves, in newspapers, in advertisements, in how we bring up our children and in what we do to our parents. It’s pathetic, and to make matters worse, we are all apathetic.

Our standards of education have fallen. Our standards of business and deal making have fallen; what, the truth is that certain people, who have fallen, are making it a trend to live like the fallen!

Crime is at its peak, and it’s fashionable to be evil, do criminal acts and work like Machiavelli! It’s become trendy to cheat, lie, sleep around, and generally live life like a moron. Our movies reflect all that is going on. There are honour killings that have no honour. In Bangalore alone there are husbands and wives at each others’ necks; there is increased alcoholism and drug abuse, but no one gives a damn and no one wants to change.

Our leaders send out all the wrong messages and we as the ‘aam junta’ fight for all the wrong reasons.

So, who gives a damn for such a society? Certainly not me!
