Today, when I look back, there is flashback in front of me. I feel great, sharing those moments with you all.
I joined our beloved site on 10 Oct 2009.
I was searching for a good second hand hatchback car within a lakh. When I put the key word `Matiz` on Google, instantly the choices came, MouthShut_Official.com being the first in the list. I wanted full value for my car purchase.
I read the first review on any site. It was `Matiz` car review on http://www.mouthshut.com. It had 88 percent MS recommendation, at par with Maruti Zen which also had the same recommendation. I read all available reviews along with some YouTube videos for the car.
I purchased the car and the car is still serving me well which I purchased for Rs 52000 in Chandigarh.
Being obliged, I decided to explore the site more.
I was mesmerized with the home page which had few profiles with photographs. I guessed that they had contributed in some way or other and that`s why their photographs were featured!! I felt great and continued copy pasting from a site, till some 25 in total.It took some two weeks.
I got a warning message from MS Admin to refrain from such practice. I was stunned to know that I was committing a great mistake. I just wanted to increase my DP counts which looked nice underneath the profile. I did not know that why I was in that hurry to increase my DP counts.
But, good sense prevailed and I deleted all 22 odd diary posts in single attempt. I sent one sms also, announcing this proudly. I still remember @confusedsoul @ange_babe55 etc who had appreciated my act in very liberal words.
Things were going good. I was very happy to go through almost each review and Rate and comment them. I started writing reviews too and was happy getting comments and ratings. Meanwhile I learnt, what to write in the DP by going through DPs of @maaz_nawaz, @confusedsoul, @cindy @angel_babe55 etc.
I got my first FD which was my 21st post. It instilled a great confidence in my writing skills. Earlier I had got my ROTD also and was feeling so special. I still cherish those wonderful moments today.
But as every success comes with a price.
My family life was little strained because of leading almost an addictive life on MS. But, one day I discussed with my wife which you know @Rashmi.Sinha and the things became alright. The very next day a Star was attached by the side of my ID. She was also motivated to start involving herself on this site.
Today, I see that she also has a decent following on MS. It brings happiness to me. I feel indebted to MS for many reasons like establishing me a writer which I had never dreamt of, a wide variety of knowledge, related to all kind of products and services, a huge list of wonderful friends who are comparable to my real world friends.
Today, I am confident that no one can deceive me – any product or service. But if somehow they manage to do so MS is there to expose them nicely. I feel doing this is certainly a distinguished form of social service and MS is helping all writers doing that.
