Leisure is the time when we do nothing; friends gathered and were clueless what to do. Varieties of ideas striking each one’s mind but none of the idea went ahead with a blast and the behavioral graph of everyone started dropping & all were surrounded by boredom, twisting their foot towards their houses and they all went home deplorable.
I was hearty and hopeful and was aware that only 2 days back a movie released with a story revolving around a disabled man, dumb & deaf, tries to be happy, cheerful, strewing happiness in others life. I thought of a plan and buzzed my friend asking him to come along to catch that movie at Cinemax evening show. The movie casts Ranbir Kapoor as Murphy - Barfi, Priyanka Chopra as Jhilmil Chatterjee and making her debut in bollywood movie LLeana D’Cruz as Shruti Sengupta, Saurabh Shukla as Sub-Inspector, Akash Khurana as Barfi’s father. Let us start character wise where in Bollywood movie heroe always come first.
Ranbir Kapoor as Murphy – Barfi
Named after the old time Murphy Radio sets, Murphy was born in Darjeeling to a couple whose wife dies moments after childbirth. An extremely spirited fellow with full of life, who draws everybody’s attention with his charm & charisma, beget who would faithfully whistle with a hope that nipper would listen. Barfi wins everyone’s heart in his town as well as the audience watching the movie. He introduces himself with a shriek but angelic sound “Brrrrrrrfeeeee”. One afternoon he falls in love with Shruti the character Played by LLeana D’cruz.

Shruti Ghosh a beautiful looking girl dressed like a heroin of old times whose glimpse were enough to reserve a place in any man’s heart was Barfi’s love interest where they share a bicycle and ramble around in the whole town. Days pass by and they came close to each other, Barfi fell in love with Shruti rather she was uncertain whether she loved him or not. Shruti was engaged due to which she freezed her footsteps, decided not to go against the will of her parents and went back to Kolkata, a lamentable decision which she realized later.
Priyanka Chopra as Jhilmil Chatterjee
An autistic young woman, Flimsy character, she got dragged more into autism rather than playing a part in the story. Jhilmil Knows Barfi since childhood, Barfi tosses his shoe in the air for the indication that he is around. Barfi falls prey to the kidnapping of jhilmil which he was not associated with, tried to push her back home but she followed his footstep and together reached Kolkata. Barfi tried to disengage himself from Jhilmil and leave her alone where he also tried to run away from her. However, later on he realized that he love her and started missing her.
Saurabh Shukla as Sub-Inspector
Rigorously chased Barfi in the whole movie where Barfi grabbed his opportunity to showcase his hidden Charlie Chaplin character and make audience laugh.
In a later part of the movie Shruti Ghosh again come back as Shruti Sengupta and realizes that she took a lamentable decision and tried to walk back in Barfi’s life. However, Barfi was in no mood to have her back again in his life rather his eyes always keep on searching Jhimil. Barfi & Jhimil got married and spend their life together where Shruti was their caretaker.
Barfi movie representing India at Global stage and nominated for the Oscars this year & hopefully it could win the hearts of the audience at Global level.
