I want to share my disappointing experience with UpGrad regarding their unfair and misleading refund policy. This is not just about the amount of ₹; 25, 000, but about the lack of transparency and responsible business practices.
- Lack of Clear Communication on Refund Policy
Before making the payment, I thoroughly explored UpGrad’s website, yet nowhere did I find the refund policy explicitly stated or highlighted. It was only after I had made the payment that I received an admission letter mentioning the refund terms. If the refund policy was such a critical piece of information, why wasn’t it clearly stated on the payment page or openly communicated by the counselors?
- High-Pressure Sales Tactics
UpGrad’s counselors created a false sense of urgency, repeatedly saying that slots were filling up fast and that I should make the payment immediately. At no point did they clearly explain that a major portion of the fee would be non-refundable. This is misleading and unethical.
- Ignoring Customer Complaints & Hiding Behind Policies
When I requested a refund, UpGrad conveniently hid behind their so-called policy, stating that ₹; 20, 000 would be deducted and only ₹; 5, 000 refunded. Even after escalating the issue via emails and filing a consumer complaint, they refused to acknowledge their lack of transparency. Instead, they offered me a discount on a future course, which is unacceptable because I no longer trust their platform.
- Consumers Deserve Transparency & Fair Treatment
This situation raises an important question: If UpGrad truly believes in fairness and transparency, why don’t they explicitly highlight their refund policy before payment? Why do students have to find out only after they have paid?
I am now escalating this matter across all social media platforms so that other students don’t fall into the same trap. If UpGrad refuses to process my full refund, I will ensure that my experience reaches as many people as possible.
Future students, be aware! Do not rush into payments without getting everything in writing. Ask for clear refund terms before paying anything.
