Kids domain has a wonderful variety of information and fun for kids and a wealth of resources for parents and teachers. You could get downloads and information on some of your or your kids favorite games. Now this looks like a useful site for the home schooler or for just the kid in all of us. You will also find craft, free download able summer icons., scree savers and games, a reading list of summer books suggested age and a brief description, links to online story site and much more . you can also send a summer e-greetings.

For A Limited Time

Wow, now this looks like a useful site for the homeschooler or for just the kid in all of us!

First

First you will notice that the site is not full of clutter and is broken down in to basically a few sections. For example, you could get downloads and information on some of your or your kids favorite games, not to mention the Safe Surfing, Holiday Fun, Crafts and Brain Builders sections.

This site seems to be a wonderful place to gather information, or well, it used to be.

New Beginnings? Oh, NO!

As I was reading around on this new to me site, and was thrilled with all the possibilities that it provided me with, both as a parent and a home school teacher, I stumbled across this topic.

New Beginnings was the title of the article. Thinking as I waited for the page to load, that it was perhaps about some child moving from a rough time in their life onto a better time. Unfortunately, that is not what I found.

As I started the read, the first paragraph gripped me. It read, “The Kids Domain staff received an abrupt awakening to the realities of the Internet as a business when we were all laid off last Friday. While we knew that our owners, theglobe.com, were having financial difficulties, Grace, Erin and I, along with our staff of freelancers, somehow believed everything would work out. And it could still happen, as the site is now for sale.”

OH, NO!

On down in the article, that had me glued to the screen, it stated that because they loved the site so much, that many of the worker bees behind the site were planning on continuing to do the work they love for free.

What a heart!

In Closing

If you want to see this wonderful site, you had best direct your browsers over to this site now. For as with all good things in life, it must eventually come to an end.

A Great Site for Kids, Parents and Teachers

Kidsdomain has a wonderful variety of information and fun for kids and a wealth of resources for parents and teachers. It is divided into two main areas -Kids and Grownups. There is considerable over lap between the two. everything on the site is childsafe so parents can feel free to let their children play.

The site is set up so kids and adults can look for games or information by type (crafts, links, downloads, printables etc.) or by topic (wizards, sports, holidays, seasons etc). For instance-if you went to ''summer'' you would find printable word searches and crosswords (both on several levels of difficulty) using summer words. You will also find crafts, free downloadable summer icons, screensavers and games (for both PC and Mac), a reading list of summer books (with suggested age and a brief description, links to online story sites and much more. You can also send a summer e-greeting. The number of things to do and links to other activities and sites are amazing. We used links from the Wizard School section to plan our son's Harry Potter Birthday last year. There is some repetition of information but it works well.(The summer icons are in summer and the icon area. Some of the summer icons picturing nature might also be in science areas)

Within the grownup area is my favorite part of the site-parent written reviews of software, video games, computers and educational materials. There are also articles and an e-newsletter. The same topics are covered that are also in the children's area. There is an amazing list of freeware and shareware that can be downloaded as well as links to other educational sites. You could spend days chasing links! Two other great features are the Kid's Safety on the Net and the Teaching Kids to Program links.

If you get tired of downloading freeware, printing games and puzzles and researching space with your kids, there are lists of contests for kids and/or parents and teachers. The contests that are part of kidsdomain only request an email address. The amount of information requested by other links varies as does whether participating in the contest puts you on an email list. (Kidsdomain contests don't).

For elementary age children, parents and especially teachers Kids domain is definitely worth checking out.
