There seem to be some deranged reviews on this site, so allow me to clear the air: Interesting Engineering is a science and tech news website, not an engineering or manufacturing firm(!)
While the branding may confuse the uncritical eye, I've yet to find a news website that provides the same caliber of discerning, independent journalism on topics that range from emerging forms of sustainable energy, engineering, astrophysics, SpaceX and NASA, and so much more.
Unchained by the shackles of legacy journalism, IE gives a spin-free perspective on the latest developments in tech and science. If you actually read the articles(and you really should!) you may be surprised to learn that they're starting to do real-world interviews(!) of experts in every field - including NASA astronauts, visionary scientists, and, of course, engineers.
The staff are quick to reply to my emails(I've shared jokes with one over the years), and the news coverage nearly always takes a "next day" perspective on mainstream news(like what Elon Musk or Bill Gates or national leaders and corporations and such say).
And on whether the advertising affects my "user experience", that's the cost of online journalism, but it doesn't bother me so much - I use an ad-blocker extension(there are many available). This also makes it load really, really fast(faster than other science websites that also have pop-ups, in fact).
All to say, Interesting Engineering may be an underdog, but it's one with more integrity and depth than most science websites(short of, say, Quanta Magazine). Give the underdog a chance, and you won't be disappointed.
- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
