They switched to a totally new layout and in the process, did away with one of the old site's most popular features - personalized bookmarks. Talk about fixing something that's not broke.

They notified users that the change was coming and said we could request a listing of our stored bookmarks. That was a month ago and I have not heard a peep other than "we received your email and support is working on it." BS. I've sent at least a half a dozen request for an update and I receive nothing. Sad to see what was a very good site lose what few customers they had.

This email is very exciting with its name. It changed its mailexcite.com address to username@excite.com. The new name is very short and interesting.

The excite website has changed a lot recently. It has more plans to bring more changes. The changes may be in par with other sites like yahoo, hotmail.

The one thing that was bad with excite was its speed. The speed was very slow. However, it has improved a lot.

It has more customization options including the personalised page.

Its look is great.

Similar to hotmail(2mb), it also offer small space(3 mb) where as yahoo offers 6 mb free.

When we signin to the site for checking mails we have to signin double the time unless otherwise the cookie is already there in the machine. This is very inconvenient when we access this site in the cybercafes.

Being a user of excite.com mail from the the internet is publicly available in India, I prefer excite.com for personal mails despite some of its disadvantages.

Excite has a classifieds section where you can advertise many things.

I have used it for running personal ads and have had great luck with it.You fill in a few things, write your ad and within hours it is posted.

They have a notifier to let you know when new people have signed up that match what you said you were looking for and that comes directly to my regular e-mail address.

You can use your main e-mail address or you can choose another one or you can set up one through Excite to use.

None of these services cost anything. Some places charge for such things so you have nothing to lose by trying it if you want to place a personal ad.

This ad can be for a mate or simply for pen pals to e-mail to.The choice is yours and I have found it to be a good way to meet people in my area.

The site is a good search engine as well and you can make it your opening page if you choose to do that.

I'd recommend excite.com to new Internet users or anyone who wants a free, web-based e-mail account.

Advantages of an excite.com account:

1. You can customize your home page to your liking with color schemes and other features such as television guides, quote-of-the-day, ''Don't Sweat the Small Stuff'' inspiration, and news, for example.

   
   




2. You don't actually have to sign in to see if you have e-mail. Signing in and having no new mail is disappointing. With excite, you don't have to bother. The site will let you know in red that you've got mail, if you do.

   
   




3. You can have more than one excite account, if you would like to use it for your mouthshut.com contact, for example.

   
   




4. The interface is very easy to use. A user can easily select e-mail, read or store it quickly. It's easy for a new user. I recently helped a new user set up a yahoo account, and the screen was so ''busy'' or crammed with items that the person had trouble understanding it. I think excite.com is much clearer. It just has a better design.

Today there are many fine search engines on the Internet including the likes of Google,Yahoo,Search Cactus, Alltheweb, Alta Vista and Excite.

Excite (https://excite.com) is a relatively popular search engine and is well organised. You are able to search according to the materials you actually want. With some other search engines,if,for example, you wanted to find photographs,you would have to type in ...''photographs Taj Mahal..'',to get photos of this famous Indian heritage site. However,in Excite you are able to select between web(for the likes of general items and individual web sites),news,photos,MP3s or products; this,of course,enables you to have a much more specific search and that can be a big help.

The search results from Excite.com seem to me to be fairly accurate,although to be frank I havent used this search engine that often compared to Google which is my favourite. It is by no means the fastest search engine on the Internet and I dont know how big is database is, or whether it has as many links as,say,Google,Alta Vista or Yahoo.

Overall,my impressions of Excite.com are quite favourable,although it is still not my preferred choice of search engine !

Excite.com is an outstanding site with so much to do on it. Excite.com has websites in various countries including Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Holland, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and of course, the United Kingdom.

With Excite.com, they allow you to sign up for an excite email account. With this you have the opportunity to set up your start up page to how you prefer it. Excite mail - Just as good as yahoo, they have many extras. There

send time and receive time is just as fast as yahoo. They have so

many useful tools and necessary items on their site, I would think they

are a sister to yahoo. The comparison are very much the same, yet a

little different. Excite allows multiple accounts, and very little spam.

A definite alternate to use.

This program above I have never had to use their customer

service department for any problems. I have not experienced

any bad experience which required me to contact them.

I highly recommend Excite. For being around a long time

with very little down time, the other two for the easy

way of bringing anything you might be interested in, news,

horoscopes, weather, stocks, right to your own page.

Fully user functional to add or remove any feature that is

not of interest to you.
