Your, review on coolgoose, certainly is an eye opener for those people who would not know about the credibility about the site. Those people who reads and rates reviews in this site would have certainly gained knowledge. It would have been better if had you, mentioned the names of other useful sites where tamil, or english mp3's could be downloaded and you could have also mentioned the quality of those sites. Next time when you write your review please see to it that you dont critisize too much about the subject on which you write your review. See internet is a media and in media, we are not supposed to openly praise or denigrate a particular concept, or a product or a personality. Had you instead given your reviews in a more polished fashion, it would not have made those people's faces to frown, who are related to coolgoose.com or the fans of that website. Your caption ''cooltoad.com'' is an epitome of creativity, no doubt, but still it would hurt. Rather try applying this stratergy on a positive note in your future reviews.

On one of the many days of reflections, I asked my friend “Yaar Anupam, I have been searching for some rare songs both in Hindi and English but can’t find them. I visited many cassette shops and even searched internet sites…but nothing turned up.” Anupam replied, “Why don’t you try Coolgoose?” “Coolgoose? Yaar, I guess you have to have a membership there and then you never know whether you will then find the song or not.” Anupam assured “Its just takes a fraction of a second. Try it out!”

And I did try! And voila, I found 80% of the songs that I was searching for around the music shops in town and various internet sites.

What I am very impressed about the site are:

1) There are many nice people around who actually take time and effort to upload and share songs for others to download and listen- majority of the songs are in Hindi and in regional Indian languages so that’s also shows the wonderful Indian hearts!

2) Most of the songs are of good quality and therefore larger in size, but if you have a high-speed internet connection, time and patience, it’s all worth it!

3) It has a comfortable and easy interface so it is easy to surf on the site.

4) You many download as many songs as you like which is a wonderful feature unlike some other sites

5) No pop-up ads except while downloading a transitional screen appears showing the sponsors which stays for a few seconds unlike some other sites which mess up the ram memory.

6) Ideal for searching and downloading rare songs- some of the songs that I downloaded are:

a. ‘Sama yeh suhana, akele hum hain , akele tum ho” from the movie Goonj

b. “Har pal chahe mera dil, tumko hi dekha karoon” from the movie Gudgudee

c. “Tum jo mile to laga hain jaise mili zindagi” from the movie Drohi

d. “Yeh lamhe yeh pal hum, barso yaad karenge” from the movie Lamhe

e. “Ae zindagi gale laga le” from the movie Sadma

f. “Tum jo mil gaye ho” from the movie Haanste Zakham, etc.

Cool goose now turns into cool toad ! This is primarily a website for downloading music and that too desi. Of course tracks of other languages are available but if ur searching for them, I suggest u look elsewhere.

The site layout is simple, no frills, it gets the job done. Once u login, u are taken to a page where u will have to click the music link to access the music database. Categorization here is done well, with links such as Blues, Pop and rock, Country and such. Like I said before, if u are here looking for foreign tracks, ALL THE BEST !!!!!!!!

One good thing is that users get to upload songs, or is it a good thing? 2 out of 5 songs that I download are of bad quality. It seems that the user has recorded the song from his cassette player, using a mike connected to his pc, pathetic ! If u cant upload a song of good quality I suggest u dont. Cooltoad.com doesnt make it compulsory for a user to upload a song, so why do it in the first place and that too when u dont have a track of atleast ''listenable'' quality ? The user here is to blame not cooltoad, or are they? Dont they check on the quality of the tracks being uploaded by the users, and then remove them?

Yes cooltoad offers u a 100mb mail account, but tell me, wud u really like to use it. The mail accounts page is simple, yes but poorly designed. If they cant maintain it properly, why provide it in the first place ?

Overall, a bad website with even worse management. Only Indian songs are available mostly, but while the main page states otherwise, u are lucky if you find an english track, and that too of good quality !!!!!! As far as the 100mb mail account, cmon guys, dont ur email providers give u more than that. The only thing that wud appeal to a first timer is the simnple site layout but bear in mind that first time will be a last timer to that website as well.

Coolgoose.com - Portal for the Desi CommunityAn Excellent Free Source for all types of Indian Music. Coolgoose.com has a vast library that includes songs in Hindi, Punjabi, Remixes, Tamil and some other South Indian languages I can't pronounce :-) The site keeps growing, as all songs are uploaded by members.

The Search on Coolgoose.com is very effective and appropriate results (by Song Name, Artist, Album, etc) are served. Categorization is neat.

Other details like File Size, Number of Downloads, Song Rating, etc are available for each song. The server can get really busy (cos of all the multiple downloads), and at times an irritating 503 Error (Server Busy) keeps popping up. At times the site can be pretty slow and User Patience and a BroadBand connection are recommended.

Coolgoose.com requires registration (free). They also provide Free Email, News, etc (but I have never used any of these). ENJOY THE FREE MUSIC!!!
