Overview

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are one among the seven union territories in India. They are a bunch of islands at the point where the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal meet. With Port Blair as capital, this union territory is composed of 349 islands, it is an abode of the Sentinelese inhabitants only, and they have no association with any other tribe. It also has Barren Island, which is the only India volcano.

The official languages of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are English and Hindi, but there are people who speak other languages, such as Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Nicobarese, and Malayalam.

The history of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is limited. It is believed that the first Westerner to set foot on this island was Marco Polo. Also, Kanhoji Angre, a Maratha admiral had his base on one of these islands and from there he attacked the passing Dutch, Portugese, and English merchant vessels on their way to and from other Asian countries.

It has many islets, and two most important islets are Ritchie’s Archipalego and Labyrinth islands. Cuisine in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is adapted from its neighbors. The foreign tourist population has influenced inspired and influenced the food of Andaman and Nicobar considerably.

The economy of Andaman and Nicobar Islands mostly depends on agriculture. The union territory is the major producer of paddy, and cash crops, such as arecanut and coconut, oilseeds, pulses, and vegetables. Farmers who own land in the hilly region grow root crops and different types of fruits, like mango, orange, sapota, papaya, banana, and pineapple.

Andaman and Nicobar islands are one of the most popular destinations for tourism. It is famous for its immaculate islands and exotic seashores.
