In the examination hall, Raju and Gopi were sitting next to each other. Raju was smart, clever and diligent. He was well prepared for the exam. On the other hand, Gopi was an outright copy-cat. And he was well prepared to copy from Raju. But how good is Gopi at copying? To know that, please wait for Professor Purnesh to evaluate the papers. Meanwhile, let me tell you?ll about the film: Shankar Dada MBBS.
Shankar Dada MBBS: For those who are unaware of the National-award-winning film, Munna Bhai MBBS, this is how the story goes: Munna is a good bad-guy (good-hearted goonda). Under sentimental situations, he forges into becoming a doctor. And the fun unfurls when he tries to cure the patients with his loving nature. In between, there is a heroine, some comedians, and some songs. Hmmm! A good entertaining formula!
For those who have not seen Shankar Dada MBBS, let me express that this Telugu version is a bad copy of the original. Neither the direction nor the other technical aspects of the film make it comparable to the original film.
The director, Jayant, has failed miserably to re-create the feel of the original film. He could not do justice to any other character, except that of the protagonist.
Music by Devi Sri Prasad is bad.
The other technical aspects like cinematography (K. Datta), editing (Marthand K. Venkatesh), choreography (Raju Sundaram, Ashok Raj, Harish Pai) fail to make an impression.
The dialogues written by Paruchuri Bros. are entertaining enough for normal audience.
Megastar MBBS: But the film is worth watching for Chiranjeevi?s histrionics. Even at the age of around 50, he has done a good job at his dances and body language. The whole film was spun around Chiranjeevi and so, I felt ?Megastar MBBS? could have been a better title for this film.
Chiranjeevi has done many scenes which would surely impress the ?mass? audience. But, is it necessary for such an experienced and good actor to display such cheap antics, just to make his fanatics behave boorishly in the theatre? May be, that?s how the film gets its bucks back.
The Last Line: And now, Professor Purnesh is ready with his results: Raju topped the class with 90/100; Gopi was a ?just-pass? with 40/100.
