Toshiba PT200-32 Reviews

Mumbai India
Be careful with Toshiba TVs and customer service
Oct 10, 2013 05:38 PM 3562 Views

I had bought this TV 5 years back from Sony Mony in Mumbai  at the cost of Rs 62, 000. Tthey gave us good service but now the Toshiba engineers tell us that its display panel has got spoiled and its replacement will cost Rs 50000.They have advised us to get a new TV.

It is really surprising that in just 5 years the display panel of such an expensive TV should get spoiled with hardly 2 to 3 hours of usage per day.

What is worse is that the company has not bothered to give me any reply to my two e mails sent to their Indian head quarters.Clearly, customer service is at a discount in Toshiba.

What more should a TV do?
Jul 15, 2013 10:52 PM 5241 Views

This TV plays USB movie formats like a gem which is really my primary use case. Steps up even the most ordinary content  movie files or AV TV content into like-able and enjoyable images on screen. No weird stretching of SD content as seen in pricier premium brands.

What more should a TV do? To me the core functions matter. No bells, no Whistles. This TV is Not a commodity types, it has a more than decent LCD panel, adequate processing capabilities and simple UI.

Overall, a very well engineered LED backlit TV from Toshiba that is truly VFM.

Sincere Thanks to Toshiba for making well engineered products affordable also.

Absolutely value for money!!!

Hi friends. Bought this TV from Shopclues.com few days ago. Price was lowest on net till now about Rs. 21490. Was worried about quality of product because of such low price. But after using for about 4-5 days I am quite satisfied. Following are pros and cons which I have found till now:

Pros:

1) First pro is of course the price tag at which it comes. Mind you, You also get 434 cluebucks on buying from shopclues which are equivalent to Rs. 434. Thus actual price comes to around 21000 rupees.

2) Picture quality is excellent. Have seen along side brand TVs like Sony, Samsung, lg, Panasonic. Out of that only Sony is better than toshiba. Samsung, lg and Panasonic where not that much clear and vibrant colors as that of toshiba, but that only can be appreciated when kept side by side.

3) Sound quality is superb compare to any led tv brand. Raising bass to maximum gives absolutely clear and loud sound for 12*14 room. No need for home theater if you just want clear audible sound. Also tv supports Dolby digital home theaters giving theater like experience. Though I have not tested that just read it in its manual.

4) Best feature which I wanted in my tv was usb video formats it supports. It plays any video format you play with it. Also it supports 1tb hard disk which I use often to see movies.

5) 3 years manufacturer warranty is added benefit which no led tv brand (except Haier) gives that much support.

Cons:

1) Media player is basic but functional. Problem is its resume capabilities. Once you leave media player you cant resume video from where you left.

2) fast forwarding cause once lack of audio output. but now its working. Hope it was one time glitch.

3) Hdmi port is behind. So it's very difficult to change ports every now and then. Not useful for gamer I suppose. 4) Four corners of tv shows slight less blueness in blue screen mode but when playing digital tv or movies no such darkness visible. Picture quality of HD channels is mind blowing and that of SD channels is ok (better to view with at least 5-6 feet away in SD).

Few queries solved: When I went to buy a tv I was thinking whether to buy HD or Full HD. 2 things I want to tell. For those of you who want to buy 32 inch tv no need of Full HD for sure. I have seen and also got advice from tv experts. But if you want to buy more than 32 inch tv than it will have benefit not now as most channels are HD and not full HD. But when dth with full HD will come than they will be benefited. But 32 inch tv will not be benefited even if full HD movies are played.

Service is very bad
May 23, 2013 06:07 PM 4206 Views

I have logged a service request for my LED TV on 19th May 2013 and doing a follow-up call every day. Till today nobody attended the service. Service is very bad even in a city like Bangalore. Friends please don’t buy this.

One of best products at an affordable price

Don't consider me as a salesman of Toshiba. I am a user of Toshiba Laptop and I had known Toshiba for over 10 years when I was in the US. I currently have Toshiba Laptop which I had been using for over two years and that was the reason for having confidence in Toshiba which is over a $50 billion dollar Japanese conglomerate who are known for their quality products.

The review here is for 40' inch LED TV which actually is LCD with a LED back lit TV. Coming to PU200 model which is LCD- LED back lit TV which has REGZA engine (Image processing unit, though not sure if it is a software/ hardware piece), I need to appreciate it for the quality of vivid pictures and unmatched sound quality (Dolby as the company claims). The PU 200 series are one of the line of products of products that were released in mid 2012. It comes in three sizes (23/32/40) inches.  The slim line of TV's PS200 series are based on edge lit technology with the same REGZA engine which consume a slightly lesser power, around 5 watts less that back lit for 40 '. Based on the reviews which I searched on leading website, I got to known that Back lit are quite better than edge lit and have many advantages as available on the link below.

The key thing I would like to say is the picture quality of even the SD channels looks quite better compared to the 37' inch Samsung LCD which my brother got over two year ago.  However I don't wish to comment on the Samsung.

It is been close to a week now I had been using the TV and I am quite satisfied with the product as of now. The HD channel from Discovery and Natgeo look vivid and the sound is quite clear and extremely good.

Advantages:

1.   with very less HD content available in our country, and there being no regional channels at all, SD transmission will be there for some more year. the quality of SD  pictures are quite good. I understand that the REGZA engine is doing a very good job.

2.  Toshiba provides a warranty of 3 years and these are available at only the retail showrooms. The one's offered on flipkart comes only with one year warranty and so the price is around 40K Rs or so. I paid around 2K more for the extended total 3 year warranty.

  1. Priced around 10 K less on same size LED TV compared to their competitors who have built there brand value over years.

  2. Before purchasing 40' PU200, I checked for reviews and there were lots well satisfied customers on flipkart for 32' PU200, so was quite satisfied with rating.

You may search for  PU200 specifications at https://toshiba-india.com/thinkingLED/pu200.html

Disadvatages:

1.  Doesn't come in 46' inch size, need to go for the PX200 smart TV series if we need 46' inch size. In fact I was looking for a 46' inch size in PU200 which is not a smart TV. PX200 series are priced quite higher and cost 67 - 68K  Rs for 46 inch TV. Hope Toshiba understands the indian market well and releases 46' PU200 in india as well. 46' PU200 is available in western market and are admired for their ratings and quality.

I hope the TV lasts quite long with no issues and if there is anything I will have the same posted.

Think before going for 'Thinking LED'
Mar 02, 2013 11:58 AM 4857 Views

Recently I booked one 32PB200  32 inch LED TV at a reputed outlet. The piece delivered at home (fresh and packed) gave only a white background. It was taken back and was given a new piece the next day. The picture quality is very poor and my old LCD screen is much better than this. Though the web site says PB200 as full HD, one needs to be very careful in selection models - Most of them are 'HD ready' only.

However the service I felt was very prompt as the person for installation arrived even before the TV. When I mentioned my dissatisfaction, the dealer was so nice to take back it and offer an HD TV of a different brand. Being a Japanese company, Toshiba should have a bit stringent quality control else they are going to loose lot of customers.

Bought Toshiba TV in Jan2012, Within One Year the Power Unit has failed and company has given quotation for repair worth 25%  of Television Purchase Price of 41 K. This raises doubt on quality of Product .

Never buy Toshiba LCD
Jan 25, 2013 03:37 AM 4139 Views

I bought toshiba LCD 40 inches 6 mons back and it created problem. I registered complaint and they suggested they have ordered for part which will come after 15-20 days, Engineer came to me with part (which seems absolute duplicate, no seal, no box just wrapped in polywrap) he fixed the part and TV didnt turned on, then same moment he fixed another same part tv started working.

TV worked for 2 days and again it gone dead. Almost 10 days passed I have launched the complaint and even customer care people are not helping they suggested me to talk to Service Center guys and clearly mention that they can only lodge complaints on phone and service center guys said it will take time to get part.

Never buy Toshiba TV as its totally waste of money. 99100-44005 (Service Center guy number who can only give excuses and fake promises rather providing solution.

Worst ever services - one have to lodge legal notice then only they will understand the value of customer.

Toshiba 24 PS10Ze-panel issue
Sep 18, 2012 04:13 PM 4032 Views

I bought Toshiba 24 10Ze on Dec 2011 but within 7 months(July 2012) a thin white lines comes on the screen. I called up the service centre number of times. After 2/3 attempt they took a photo and then no response. Again I called up after a month or so and then they took another photo telling that the first one was not up to the mark.

Again after 2/3 weeks, when I called up they says it will be replaced soon. Still waiting for the parts to be replaced. Suggest not to buy Toshiba or any other cheaper brand.

They should close shop and go
Aug 27, 2012 04:55 PM 4475 Views

Toshiba is the worst Electronics company in India. I bought an LCD TV in July 2011, the TV panel failed and the entire TV had to be replaced in September. I had to call up the service centre a hundred times only then someone showed up and replaced the TV - about 5 complaints later!!

Now in August 2012, again the TV panel is spoilt. And guess what, they simply said that the TV is now out of warranty so I have to pay 12, 000 Rs to put a new panel. If the TV panel has to be changed every 6-8 months, what is the point in buying this TV??? Toshiba should close down shop in India and go back to wherever they came from. Please boycott this company.

We should show the world that we are not dumping grounds for cheap goods which do not work!!
