This review is for the Sony Trinitron KV-2167,a 21" colout TV model. This TV has been around with me for around a decade now, and I must say, after seeing other television sets, this 21" model is still one of the best Televisions you can buy.
Everyone may say that Sony TV's are too expenesive, and I agree to an extent, yes, Sony probably charges a premium on thier sets, but then, when you use one, you truly do realise how good it is.
Let's srart with the looks... wait, this is'nt a beauty contest is it? Nope, so lets go on to the most important aspect of any television, the picture quality, Sony's Trinitron picture tube is probably among the best in the world for a CRT TV. The colour reporducatin is just right, not too harsh, not too soft, with good detaisl and brightness, especially if you leave it in 'Soft' picture mode. Even after 10 years, the Trinitron pitcure tube looks better than many LG, Samsung, BPL's, Sansui's, Akai's and Onidas. It is built to last, and looks like it can easily last another 10-15 years. You have to see it for yourself to appreciate it.
Another thing I appreciate with Sony is the fact that (atlelast my model) has only 80 channels in it. What!, you probably scream with horror, as most manufacturers give you 200+ channels. Well, let me ask you, How many channels do you actually see? I have never found the need to push the Sony 's channel scanning capacity beyond 40-45. And acually, that brings me to another very good point about Sony's - Their simplicity and ease of use. For once, there are'nt 5 different band equalizer settings to let your kids/partner/sibling fight about ohhhh... but the TV does'nt sound right! It ijust sounds crisp and clear, and that's that.
There is also just a contrast, brightness and colour selection for the picture, and 3 built in picture models as well. There is only Bass and Treble along with the volume controls, and I quite like that, and although the sound is rated at a measly 40W PMPO, i've rarely found the need to push it beyond 20-25% volume, so as not to disturb the neighbours. 500W+ PMPO from other systems may sound exciting, but that level of sound is hardly good for your ears. You may only feel some sort of pinch when watching DVD movies on it, but then, my suggestion is, get a proper 5.1 channel stereo system for the full 'Home-Cinema' experince.
Another good thing of the TV is its build quality, well, at least of it's Remote, i've dropped this remote at least a 100 times, yet, it still keeps working well! And I have never had the need to call a repairman/ serviceman to service or repair the TV. This TV is abit like a plug it - on it - and forget it kind of TV. It's utterly relaible.
Word of advice though, if you are getting a TV, make sure you get a voltage stabilizer for it, for sometimes, sudden high voltages may damage or even burst the cathode ray tube.
So that is my opinion on Sony's 21" colour TV's, now available at prices from Rs. 10,990 - Rs. 16,990, they may not have the fancy look-at-me features, but they do serve an utterly fabulous mix of picture quality, sound quality and relaibilty, and for that, I simply love it.

- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
