Samsung Plano

Our Son, (who lives in South Korea), sent us a wonderful gift for our Anniversary. I was upset because I thought he had forgotten.

Our SAMSUNG PLANO TELEVISION SET, (the model number is T-160), arrived yesterday. When we unpacked the three huge boxes I couldn't believe my eyes!

We already have a flat 42'' screen TV so I know how heavy they are. I ran and got our two neighbors to move our old one to the Den and help my Husband and I unpack the boxes. It took a lot of work to get the TV onto the stand because flat screens are so heavy, (all the innards are behind the screen).

Every digital item you might want in built into it. It has a flat face screen with a light silver trim around it. The rest of the Set is a grey color.

It sits on a stand that has two shelves below it. On each side of the TV are two tall gray poles that have the speakers on top.

The Reception we get is excellent. You know how annoying it gets when a TV Ad comes on and it is louder than the program. This model adjust the tuning to have the same sound as the program. No more reaching for the remote control.

We have a choice of 100 channels and we can choose them from a menu option. The programs come in clear and the color are so sharp that they are perfect.

The Auto Tuning is displayed in blue and the Fine Tuning is in green. The 550 watts PMPO enchanted the powerful woofer to make the sound as clear as a bell! There is a five band equalizer that sets the tone to exactly what you want.

Because the speakers are so large you can hear the voices in my Livingroom, Diningroom and Kitchen. You can select the options for the sound you want: clear, enhanced, movie or personalize.

The Remote Control uses an AA battery and is very light, strong, (I dropped it a few times and the batteries didn't fall out) and has a sleek design. You can Remote Control to put on the sleep timer and an power off.

The picture options are: dimmer, game, movie and soft. The quality of the pictures is perfect because of the flat screen and the 3 D feeling. You almost feel you are in the middle of the scene on the screen.

We don't play PC Games so we haven't tried that feature yet. When one of my Grandsons comes to visit I'm sure they will love it.

The Video is great. It's nice to have one built into the set. We connected our old Video on the small TV in our Bedroom so we can watch Videos in bed or tape two programs at the same time.

MY CONCLUSION:

I have know idea what this TV cost but I'm sure it was a fortune.

If you have the money and are looking for a new TV I hope you'll look at one of the Samsung Plano TV Models, (the do have less expensive ones).

We have only been using this TV for a week so please ignore some of the thinkgs I had to fill in to file this review.

Purchased this TV from ICE Bangalore last year. So far so good. It has got more options than any other TV, but still I am surprising why a normal person first thinks about Sony Wega for flat TV. Yes! Sony is best in SOUND. No idea about picture quality. Remembering old ''black & white'' TV producing companies, they are almost obsolete. New companies captured the whole market and now Indian Market are flooded with LG, Philips, Sony, Samsung etc. These companies are in competition and ultimate benefit for consumer. But launching so many brands in the market perplexed consumer and hence, situation will soon be worst. Sony brand is good for Sound Quality, dont know about picture quality. Philips, too, came into picture because of sound. These are international brands, and now LG is in queue too.

This samsung model, which I purchased, has got lot of options but sometimes I feel bad for sound. Though it has great Picture quality but then sound doesnt match with motion picture. May be, the reason could be, because I tried to set the sound using equalizer but there is no way you can reset it. But ''MegaBass'' works good giving excellent effect.

The Samsung 'Plano' flat television range comes with the award winning 'DynaFlat' technology which ensures perfectly flat images that have no visible curvature when viewed from any angle and remarkable colour purity. The DynaFlat picture tube achieves 20% higher contrast than normal picture tubes on account of the Super Pigment phosphor coating on the picture tube. DynaFlat's clear panel has a light transmission rate of 86% as compared with 53% in conventional CRTs, resulting in remarkable clarity with brilliant colour saturation. Living life is always hard. One has to toil hard all day to earn a living. Giving his heart and soul, man earns every penny with a sweat of his, doesn’t he? Amidst all these there is entertainment. After a hard long day, one has to relax and have a dose of entertainment. It is the radio for a few and TV for most of the people. Let us take up TV and there is always technology by its side. Ever overwhelming and always improving, technology makes our life more and more interesting and exciting. And the issue of “No compromise when it comes to Entertainment” always prevails. Rightly so. A tired man would like to get his dose of entertainment via TV the best way. With all the strain taking on him, he needs to relax and a good picture with an apt sound is what he wants, ultimately. Wondering what! Where is this guy going? Wait. I am plunging into the point I am trying to make. I am here to enlighten you people on the wonderful flat TV from Samsung, The Plano, a digital flat TV that simply rocks. It so happened that a close friend of mine purchased this TV some months ago and after having a detailed look at the TV, here I am to review it.

A masterpiece from Samsung, this product “The Samsung Plano” is a digital flat TV with some exciting features and functions that are mind-boggling. Reception and Channel Broadcast:- Excellent is an understatement. Such is the reception. With a choice of 100 channels, one can enjoy the luxury of auto tuning. Among all features, the most striking of all is the ease with which the channels can be tuned. Even if the broadcast is pure, the Samsung Plano provides the best of broad cast with its high-end technology. Display:- What impressed me most is this. The display of channels as well as menu options are picture perfect. It is a treat to watch those menu options slowly coming on the screen. Well, out here, the display is indicative. Fine tuning and Auto tuned channels are displayed in green and blue respectively. Functions:- Some really attractive functions like sound options (personalize, movie, clear, enhanced), surround sound, auto power off, sleep timer and picture options (soft, movie, game, dimmer) are included. In some models, even child lock is put up. Wow!! Ain’t that cool. Remote:- A state-of-art design with a very light weight is how you can define this sleek remote. With a touch sensitive nature the remote is pretty strong and sturdy. I don’t want to go into intricate details, but one thing can be said. Every single thing right from tuning of sleep timer can be done with the remote control.

With a AA sized battery the remote is very powerful. I can even reflect off the walls. So don’t kid with it. Otherwise it is very much user friendly. Picture:- Coming to the most important aspect of all, the picture quality. In my opinion it is simply superb, “Bilkul Perfect”. With a flat screen, one is assured of perfectly flat images. The 3-dimensional charisma can be felt so relishingly. More so, the TV is incorporated with a wide spectrum of colours, giving us an opportunity to capture vivid pictures. Especially, those colourful events area treat to watch and it gives a whole new different experience all together. There is a striking difference while watching animations here compared to other televisions. On the whole the TV gives superlative viewing experience. Sound:- Again, it is the enthralling experience of the sound quality that impresses me. A 550 watts PMPO buzzes around nicely with the powerful woofer that enhances clarity and sound depth. Now, I agree that a 550 watt output is not necessary but again it is the quality I am talking about. The 5 band equalizer sets the tone to personalize sound and gives us the option to set the sound for different channels, as is required. Gaming and Video Experience:- Take my word, this is the only TV after LG Flatron, that gave me superior gaming experience. Playing games like Max Payne and SOF gave me thrilling experience for the resolution and sound effects proved to be too good. Watching a VCD also is a pleasure as all distortions are waded off for sure. With all these superlative features, the Samsung Plano comes with a price that is not a tall order but not down to earth either. Certainly, it deserves the price we pay for the experience we get.

To sum it up, I conclude that “Samsung Plano” is a television that gives me wonderful digital experience in entertainment. What with a digital processor (one of a kind) to strengthen even the weakest signals for distortion free sound and pictures, the TV brings cheers in many a face. It made me happy and would make you happy too. So I strongly suggest this product and one can certainly go for it.
