The Onida Black 21 FGL is a great Flat TV. Having recently replaced my old and faithful Onida with this new one has been a very good decision. For the the price of 12K, it's just the thing you'd want with beautiful form design.
Superb Picture quality (that's been one thing that Onida has truly improved on, though it has been always good in their previous models). Good sound (200 Watt). The best part is the Music Mode, where you can turn off the picture and just listen to the sound. You can still surf and increase/decrease volume in this mode.
This apart the ZAP! feature and the Half Mute are thoughtful additions. The ZAP is used to preset a time duration of 1 ~ 5 min for a channel while you surf others. At the end of the set duration it will automatically return you back to the channel where you had set it. Front headphone and video-in jacks are well concealed. Other features are typical of most of the new TVs in the market, as in Black Stretch, Scheduler, Games etc.
So what are the drawbacks? No component input (that's OK I guess). The OSD is pretty poor and can be greatly improved and so is the remote unit. I say so cause the OSD is rendered in purple, which is just not clearly readable. So are the OSD function grouping (though that's not too bad either.) The remote unit is rather poorly designed due to the odd placement of the buttons.
The plus point is that you need not necessarily point it towards the TV to use it. But one major flaw that the TV has is inability to set individual volume levels for the various channels. This feature is pretty common in current TVs. This is the only missing feature that struck me as odd. Although these flaws are not too difficult to live with, they could have been there in the first place itself.
Overall Impression
The Onida Black 21 FGL is a superb TV. It's got great picture quality and more then decent sound. As of looks, you really will stop by to stare at the product once in a while (as the ad shows).
