LG LW5700 LED 3D - Good purchase
Mar 16, 2012 03:21 PM 18391 Views

For about a year I was thinking of buying a new TV. My home has been TV free for quite some time. However as Kids were growing up there were expectations to have TV at home at least for limited watching.

Must Have features:

. 1. 42” Screen Size

· 2. Low power consumption

· 3. Full HD(1080P) capable, viewing distance will be 8 feet

· 4. Aesthetic appeal(Though Subjective – something I need to like J)

· 5. Overall black body

· 6. Uniform screen illuminations(no light spill at corners or edges)

· 7. Mat screen(as TV will be facing front door and Window)

· 8. Large external hard disk support

· 9. 3 HDMI connectors, 2 USB connectors

· 10. Ethernet capable

Nice to Have features:

· 1. Wireless connectivity

· 2. Games

· 3. 3D

· 4. Firmware upgradable

· 5. Additional USB connectors

· 6. DLNA(Wireless management/connectivity)

Based on the criteria Plasma TVs were eliminated. For 42” the resolution was pretty week(720P only) and there was striking difference in picture quality as compare to LED/LCD.

After going through the list of TVs available it was apparent that I am inclining more towards “Smart TVs” as Ethernet connection is only available with smart TVs. I have option of going for something like Apple or Android TV, however due to lack of firsthand experience I thought of having Ethernet connectivity on TV itself.

As 42” Smart TV were over 70K, I was thinking of getting even 3D. After watching Avatar 3 times in theatre I was kind of 3D fan, however never thought a TV can give similar experience. However when I saw 3D movie on TV from closer distance in complete darkness with Onkyo home theatre, my opinion was different.

Only hesitation I had was the expensive and chargeable shutter glasses. With small kids at home we fear of breaking 3D glasses, would have compromised the fun of watching 3D moviesJ. Around same time LG introduced passive 3D where the glasses were very lightweight and inexpensive. Clearly I wouldn’t have bought shutter glass 3D after seeing this. I have seen the movies and resolution is not as bad as commercial comparisons are projecting, in fact it is very bright and clear as compare to active glasses 3D TVs.

So I was kind of sold on LG real cinema 42” TV. The problem as the price. It was close to 83K at time I checked in eZone. My budget was 40-45K. So I was patiently waiting for prices to go down for 4 months. I have never considered finance option as typchandru021y I don’t go for loans due to higher interest rates.

However I was in eZone @ ishanya mall looking for something else. A brilliant sales person was able to make the deal for 75K with 0% interest rate and we were through. They have worked out documentation and processing fairly quickly and without any planning I bought the TV J. Anyway this was something I was looking for and for 0% interest it was not a bad deal.

Installation was handled by LG service person brilliantly. Person has come to my home with all the required instruments and able to fit the TV at proper height with sturdy fitting. No hassles at all.

TV picture quality is brilliant.

MPEG/AVI/MKV files from External HDD connected over USB -

I am able to connect my 500GB Seagate external hard drive to TV and watch Movies embedded 5 folder levels below without any issue. The MKV or AVI files were playable and the post processing was better than my VLC player on computer. Most of the AVI files worked without any problem. It even remembers the last played position of the current video you are watching. There is optical sound out from TV, however I am sure most of the latest AV receivers are capable of playing videos from USB. Nonetheless, better to have options…

You Tube Player App –

Virtually useless application. I was in fact counting big time on Yourtube application from LG App store, but it’s one of worst YouTube client I have used. There is no way to link your YouTube/Google user ID to this application. All your channels/Subscriptions as well as favorites are useless. There is no content filtering. There was a porn video on the second page itself. Pretty risk stuff to operate when you have kids around. LG definitely need to work on this application. A BIG let down…

Games -

Games are little fun to play with the motion sensing remote that comes with the TV however nowhere close to wii experience. After the novelty value is over the magic remote goes in lowest drawer J

Satellite Dish –

After purchasing this, I bought Airtel HD(Maybe another review). Picture quality is awesome. 1080i HD looks great. Even the SD channels are looking fine. Only irritation I have is the aspect ratio of the SD channels. I guess problem is with the channel transmission than TV.

Sound –

Built in speakers are pretty weak and noisy, I guess more or less same case with any slim TV. Fine for news and infotainment channels, but music and movies need better setup. Any way I have plan get proper receiver to get the real sound. Definitely not LG home theatre, I had audition earlier and not very impressed with the performance. Will go for something like Onkyo or similar.

Picture Quality -

Picture quality is stunning. With IPS panel(guess kind of mandatory for real 3d cinema feature) wife can see the TV from kitchen which is less than 40 degrees angle to the TV panel. SD channels are properly shown and don’t realize it unless I am switching to SD channel immediately after HD J

3D –

3D is awesome. Even after a month novelty value is not faded, so its gonna stay and will use this. 2D-3D conversion will not give you that drastic effects, however most of the time you get the 3D perception inside the panel, good to see however its not impressive. However with real 3D movies/clips, the effects are amazing. I am happy and will upgrade to blueray player as well as satellite box with 3D capabilities when the content is available. I am delighted that I have gone for this option.

Overall Feeling –

Happy about the purchase. Good finance option from eZone has doubled the happiness. As of now I am not happy about apps offered, definitely looking forward to have more smart options and better apps. Fortunately it can updated… Hope LG will listen this…

Reliance Digital + LG - a definitely avoidable
Mar 07, 2012 12:07 PM 8612 Views

Purchased a LG 3D TV from Reliance Digital(Kukatpally) on Sunday.

Was installed on Monday, the 3D option is not working, the menu itself does not appear.

Reliance ResQ is useless and say LG has to do something. Apparently someone figured out there is a Software version problem(guess). waiting to hear from them

LG does not do any Quality Check before sending out the TV.

I made the stupid mistake of buying LG and that also from Reliance Digital - you are advised to avoid it

LG LCD TV Review
Mar 01, 2012 05:50 PM 6436 Views

While shifting to a new and big house we realised that our old 21 inch TV wouldn't look good there. With mutual consent of the family members we zeroed on buying a 37 inch LCD TV. Now the real problem started. We all were busy during weekends because of office and going to a mall on weekends was a strict no-no for all of us!

After several hours of discussion, arguments and suggestions we finally decided to buy it online. After hunting several sites online I chanced upon edabba.com. Initially we were pretty sceptical but after reading some reviews our doubts got cleared out.

The website is well laid out so we could easily spot the product that we wanted. The range that they offer was pretty impressive. After reading and comparing few LCD TVs we selected LG 37 inch HD LCD TV. It was delivered to us within the said time frame.

As it was the first time we were ordering the order procedure scared us. But edabba consumer support team were patient and helpful. Now the entire family is glued to the huge LCD TV! Thanks edabba for the wonderful shopping experience.

Title says it all. Very surprised by the video quality. Audio's mediocre. Hooked it up with my HiFi system and it's just perfect. Played some PC games on it as well on 1080p, and it was just beautiful. Way better than running it on my current LCD monitors, provided your gaming rig is capable of handling resolutions up to 1080p. Rather surprised at the price. All in all good value for your money. No regrets.

Fine product from LG
Dec 24, 2011 04:13 PM 12008 Views

I bought this from letsbuy around Diwali (order number 475901). Glad I did. The 3D is so real that my 4 yr old held back and caught me scared by a football coming out of the screen, in her first 3D viewing experience. The best thing is you don't have to buy a rechargeable or battery operated glasses. The supplied glasses are very light and easy on eyes so watching hours of 3D becomes very easy. The USB slot plays the popular 3D SBS movies directly, so you do not need buy a 3D player separately, just download to a USB and you go.The magic motion remote is another boon.

It makes web browsing easy like you do it with a mouse. It may take a few hours to adjust but then you will forget the conventional remote. The only negative is the fit and finish of the TV, which is not very glamorous when the TV is switched off. But then it's LG. They need to work on their finishing.

Good HD performance, Bluetooth, DivX support,
May 29, 2011 02:23 PM 7279 Views

Drawing on its typical red streaked aesthetics like previous Scarlet  series, this model clearly looks better than many other models we’ve  seen. LG always manages to make their bezels very ritzy, with a clean  cut design and smooth surfaces, gloss black in this case. The red  accentuation is on the bottom panel, and around the rim of the stand’s  base. Thin frames is the ‘in’ thing these days, and this LG model too is  very thin.

The connections available are more than satisfactory, with 3 HDMI 1.3a  inputs, 2 component ins, PC input(Mini D-Sub), one RS-232, plus the all  important USB 2.0 inputs. The USB can play MP3s, JPEGS and also DivX  and MPEG 4 movies. The DivX playback is limited to SD playback, plus  there is no head phone out, and it comes with inbuilt stereo regular  speakers, though invisible from the front view. The stand joint is  really wobbly. We were cleaning the screen to photograph it, and it just  wobbled away like a see saw.

Not as much as the edge lit LED model in the market, but for  this price point it’s really neat and thin. The power button is a  circular transparent one that fills up what, in previous Scarlet models,  was a cut out hole through the bezel. This too is fully touch  sensitive.

LG  aims on improving the shortcomings of the Scarlet with its latest  offering, the Scarlet 2.0. Sporting the same IPS(In Plane Switching)  panel for superior picture quality, the Scarlet 2.0 has also slimmed  down a bit with a much leaner looking frame and a revamped bezel. The  main attraction of the Scarlet 2.0 is its Bluetooth capability, which is  the first of its kind in India. This lets you pair Bluetooth  headphones, as well as play music from your phone on the TV. I have paired with the Bluedio bluetooth headset and its simply awesome to watch movies and hear in the bluedio headset.

The rest of  the features are pretty much the same, like 100Hz motion plus, DivX  playback through USB, 3x HDMI and a fast response time of 2.4ms.

I bought it for 55000 in devi international jayanagar, bangalore in feb 2010.

I dont know about service, but looking from others review it seems to be real bad. But tell me in India which company will give you good service. with idiotic laws which cant sue anyone, everyone plays around.

The panel is 1920 x 1080 full HD, Brightness is 500 cd/m2, Viewing Angle is 178 /178, Response time is 2.4 ms.

LG = Looting Graciously
Feb 21, 2011 03:06 PM 7242 Views

I had bought an LG LCD(LH20 model) an year and a half back inspired by the tall claims that LG provides the best of the services. Just three months after the(first year) free warranty got over, the TV panel started showing the picture in single color switching from one to other(From Pink to Yellow to Green to Red). I suspected that there must have been some circuit issue and lodged a complaint(RNA-110210070997) with the LG service supposedly the best.

Service Engineer comes within the promised 24 hours, informs that the panel needs to be changed which would cost me 39% of the TV cost. This was a shock in the first place as we have never had any voltage issues at home. Still suspecting it to be the cause, I enquired to the engineer on the possible cause of the panel damage in just over an year, in order to prevent this from happening again. On this I was simply suggested to stay away from LG LCD and LED TVs as there were no issues with its handling but rather it is the product quality delivered to the customers which has been compromised and is usually substandard now. This, coming from an LG engineer, who is employed by the company was the second shock to me. I was suggested to continue buying the warranty if I wished to avoid similar costs going ahead and was assured that the panel may again need a replacement in a similar time frame. The warranty charges are 10% of the cost per year.

Anyways the engineer informs me, he would come back with the panel to replace it. 10 days pass by and never heard from him. On one out of the dozen attempts to reach him I get to know that the panel is not available and I need to check with the supervisor if I am in a hurry. I try to reach the supervisor and after showing some urgency and concern, the supervisor finally shows some mercy on me and sends his engineers with the panel which is replaced at a hefty cost. Once they have left, I notice that there are huge scratches not very visible, on the new panel to my disappointment, running from bottom to top of the screen. Although they are not affecting the picture quality but the can be easily seen when the TV is off. Can now hardly do anything as I have already paid for the change.

I know I am out of warranty and cannot claim on the cost incurred but just wished to warn people planning to buy LG products on what the engineer's sugest on their own company's product. These products specially Flat Panel TVs are substandard and low quality parts in branded clothes sold to customers at premium just to fool them and mint money out of the same. Its their way of assuring their continuous income by selling warranties and AMCs to customers as customers can legally do nothing besides opting for the warranties. Even if you take the best of measures to avoid the panel malfunctions you wouldn't be as they are built to last long. Not my words but what the LG engineers suggested. So all I wished to suggest in this note is if you wish to go for LG flat panel TVs, please base your decesion on my experience that the expected lifetime of the TV panels are not more than 1.5 to 2 years. Would suggest brands with longer warranties to be opted instead. I learnt it hard way. Hope you don't have to.

Cost effective feature packed LCD
Jan 27, 2011 12:31 PM 13317 Views

My CTV from LG was 8 years old. I never felt the need to replace it as the color and picture quality were fine. No TV mechanic had touched it since purchase.( it had a auto degauss function).I ventured into a well known showroom keeping the new year offers in mind. Was looking at sony Bravia 32’EX400 & samsung32C450LCA.

Ultimately I settled for LG LD 460 32” LCD coz it was cost effective and feature packed. For instance, LG LCDs use the latest IPS(In plane switching) LCD panels. The user advantage is there is no loss in picture clarity in spite of viewing from narrow angles. IPS technology of LG Display enables clear images at any angle within 179 degrees.

It’s a Full HD LCD c a Resolution of 1920x1080 with a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 100, 000:1

The LD460 is Divx compatible with the latest 1080p DivX HD and MKV(used for ripping Blu-ray movie) files.

It’s a pleasure to view downloaded DivX, mp4 &avi. video content on the large LCD screen with utmost clarity thru the USB port, this is not so with many other LCD TVs.In addition it has one HDMi port on the side and one in the rear(SonyEX400 provides 4HDMi ports)

This HDTV LCD is a great choice to watch videos rather than the small monitor of your PC with booming sound with high clarity.

Unlike other HDTVs of this dimension which offer 10w+10w speakers Audio Output LG LD460 offers15W+15W.The sound quality is good and fills the drawing room.

There are also energy saving options, The LCd brightness can be set at a comfortable level to one’s choice. There are also 5 options for sound quality.

It’s a pleasure to watch your favorite videos &channels on a full HDTV like the LG LD 32 LCD

I would strongly recommend this model to those planning to change their CRT CTVs.

It is value for money at Rs33500/-

LG Plasma 42 PQ70 TV completely DEAD in just 9 mth
Oct 05, 2010 03:39 PM 7682 Views

LG Plasma 42 PQ70 TV was completely DEAD in just 9 month My complaint numbers are C10916-32226 C10926-00422  C10929-01019   C10929-01770   C10A04-34278/ I made complaints on 16, 26, 29 September, and everyday in October. However, LG kept citing non-availability of BOTH defective parts--Plasma panel & Power supply as the reason why they could not repair my Plasma 42 TV.The Toll Free number 18001809999 is USELESS. I made at least 12 calls to them, and was always given the same spiel about ’somebody will definitely get in touch with you within a few hours’ but that did not happen.

But after Vijay Sales, Mahim intervened, they replaced both parts in a few days & it works fine now

LG LCD TV -Pathetic Quality
Sep 29, 2010 02:12 PM 6378 Views

I bought  an LG LCD TV (22LG30R)  one and half years back. for Rs /- 17000. It worked reasonable well for 1 year and 5 months and then it failed. LG service center told me that I have to replace panel for around RS 7000.

At the time of purchase they said it have a life of 60000 rs!!!.The customer care policy is also probably worst in the industry , they said a large number of LG LCD's fails before 2 years of purchase and they cannot do anything to replace the panel at a discounted  price or free.

Their service manager  cannot even speak proper English and answer my question. But he said that real life of an LG LCD tv is only 10000 hrs AND MOST OF THEM HAVE Manufacturing defect!!!!!!

I bought it from Bangalore and contacted their banashankari 2nd stage service center..

So avoid buying LG LCD, Consider a better brand like SONY.

LG is a baby in LCD technology!!!

LG Plazma 42" repairs More than 50% of the price
Sep 12, 2010 12:32 PM 6659 Views

I am Colonel SK Gupta, a retired officer from the Indian Army.I am presently working for a software company at Noida/india. I am a user of LG products such as TV, Fridge, washing machine, Microwave oven etc for the last over ten years,

In 2006 (second half) I had purchased the a/m product (Plazma TV) from Delhi for Rs 1, 17, 500/- ($2550/-) which is now costing Rs 38000/- (the latest version)in the market. I have a proper receipt for the same. It is extremely sad and pitiful to mention that during the last four years the TV has given me trouble the second time and each time the local repair centers of your company are charging exorbitantly high (more that 50% of the present cost) for the repairs. The details of the two repairs are as under:

(a)    First Repair was carried out in Oct 2009 for the defect (No picture) in the Y board but I was made to pay for all the three boards i.e. X, Y and Z boards and charged Rs 5408/- (  Noida Service center Invoice no: H01747/B/8315 dated 25.10.09) even though the defect was in one board but I was told that the company supplies a set only and I am required to pay for the complete set and they changed the complete set. It was clearly ascertained that only the Y board was defective since the TV functioned perfectly by changing this alone.

(b)   The second repair was required when we found that a white horizontal band started appearing on the screen. I registered a complaint on LG helpline (no-C1082533140 dt 25.8.10)but the complaint has since been closed by the service center as they were asking me for an expenditure of Rs 18000/- plus taxes=Rs 20, 000/-).In this regard I wish to mention here that a new LG Plazma of same size and equivalent brands with better features/quality is openly available in market for Rs 38, 000/- to Rs 40, 000/-.Asking nearly half the price for repairs of an equipment is neither logical nor justifiable when I have already paid Rs 1, 17, 500/- plus Rs 5, 408/- (cost & repairs)for it and it has not given me defect free service for more than 4 years. *I can provide the names and mobile numbers of the senior persons in LG local service center whom I have contacted but there was no use as they put the blame on company saying that the company supplies the repair parts only as a set and they have to change the whole set only.

== ==

In 2004 I had bought another 21” TV of LG from Chennai which could not be repaired and is lying as a junk for the last two years. The reason is that LG service center personnel took it to the center and quoted a very high cost of repair after reportedly checking it there.

I think the above matter should serve the company as a valuable input and also solve my problem as one of your long time/loyal users who also happens to be a qualified lead auditor of quality systems presently serving with a software company in India. I can provide  more details to any one who is interested.

Hope the users will take benefit of my these comments and the company take this matter in the right spirit in resolving the issue.

The above matter has been refered to the head of the office at Greater Noida india but I think they do not seem to be having any concern to their users.

Best Wishes to all the readers,

Col  SK Gupta (Retd)

Good Lifestyle LCD
Aug 06, 2010 04:37 PM 6339 Views

I have been using the product for 2 years before in Sept 08. I had purchase it for Rs 41000 + Rs 6500 (3 year extended warranty). It was the best model from LG at that time. TV video has very good quality and has feature like USB port and S-video, HDMI port.

I generally download movies or serials on my USB drive and plug it in LCD to watch it. No need to install anything. Video has 3 different modes for sports, movies and normal mode. You can notice the quality difference when you change the mode.

Voice quality is average despite tall claims by LG. LG Jazz LCD has better voice quality then scarlet version.

Service by LG people is good they came to inspect the TV one year after the purchase as purchasing extended warranty includes one free inspection every year.

Since I bought all LG products for my home 2 years back and all of them are running trouble free till now.

I would recommend the LG product to people who like quality over the price.

LG 42LH60YR 'jazz' is instead a rock star
Jul 31, 2010 05:53 PM 6095 Views

I'm a gadget freak and love to follow the developments in all kind of gadgetry. So when it came to buying a LCD TV for myself, I wanted to buy the best out of the best. But best of the best is not sold in India:-) and almost best are way expensive.

It was Dec 2009, I started visiting showrooms across Bangalore for demos and meantime researching in net for good ones. We never owned any LG products at our home and so I didn't had LG in my mind. Asked sales guys to show Samsung(as they make panels for Sony) and Sony TVs. As a standard all showrooms had Samsung 550 series and Sony W/S series which are low end spec models but priced around 67k to 75k for 40 inch models. As per forums AVSforum, they had said a lot good about 650 series of Samsung. But could not find it in Bangalore even as display piece. So dropped Samsung TVs from my list. As I did not like 550 series ones. Sony dropped as it was expensive and no discounts offered.

Left with only LG TV and other brands like panasonic, sharp, etc. I thought of postponing buying TV to next year as I could not afford my favorite brands. When one sales guy explained that LG LCD TVs are good these days, reluctantly accepted for demo. He played a DiVx file and mp3 file from USB pendrive on 42LH60YR and first thing that caught me was the speaker quality was better than Samsung and Sony. When I say better, it was excellent. But I couldn't believe how LG could make something better than Samsung and Sony. Next day went with my own pendrive with photos, mp3s and divx files. Great. was delighted by the quality and brought it for Rs 62000 the next day and got it delivered the same day.

Recently brought Tata Sky HD and the combination rocks like a rock star. Only problem faced so far was with USB pen drive, which sometimes is not detected and need to switch off/on continuous to get it working. But that got rectified by software update by LG guys.

I have purchased LG Scarlet 42' during Diwali 2008 at Rs.83000/- and surprised to note that it stopped working while we are watching the program after around 18 months. While watching the program, the video ( picture) disappeared and after 2-3 minutes even the voice. LG service is quite bad and I am running from pillar to post to get the same rectified. The question "IS 83k TV's Scarlet model's life is only 18 months? Moreover LG advertises that LCD models' life is around 90000 hours or even more. Surprising that no one from LG is ready to talk about this.

Be careful, if you are looking for LG LCD TV's.

Lg 42" lh60YR Series Jazz not being delivered!!
May 31, 2010 03:02 PM 6597 Views

31ST MAY 2010 buying experience Part 1. Part 2(user experience) is below.

I bought a lg 42" lh60yr series jazz lcd from Rahul electronics(Dahisar E) Mumbai on 25th May 2010 for 55, 000/ they gave me the same deal being offered at Gala and sons at kandivali and Jain electronics at borivali W. my reason for purchasing it from Rahul electronics was a heavy discount on my additional purchase of a base model LG microwave.

Initially they told me that the TV was in stock and it will be delivered the very next day. Music to my years:) but to my mis fortune they called the next day and told me that it will take at least 4 days more. in the mean time I got calls from LG Service reps asking me if they can come in for product demos. I informed them that the products were still to arrive. It turns out Rahul electronics had placed a complaint that the service demos hadn't been given even before delivering my TV!

I called customer care to give a complaint about the dealer. they passed me on to Mr Praful karkera from Borivali(sales department regional head) who in turn made me speak to Mr Arif who works for him. Mr Arif was kind enough to speak to the dealer and ask him to deliver it ASAP, giving me some hope.

Eventually I called the dealer yesterday askin him about the delivery and he happily repiled that the tv had left the jogeshwari storage and will reach me in 2 hrs time.

Its been 24 hrs, no sign of the tv yet!

Mr Praful/ Arif's cell is not reachable. lg customer care says we cant register dealer complaints. Dealer(Mohan and Suresh Bhai - rahul electronics) doesn't give a shit!

Some important numbers if you are facing the same problems that I have faced and already called.

lg cust care - 02232962813(Borivali)

lg callcenter - 1800 180 9999(press one if its after 8 pm or call gets disconnected)

Mr Arif/ Praful Lg sales - 02228352882 /83/84/85/86/87

Part 2 . User experience with Lg Jazz 42" lh 60 yr series lcd. 27TH SEP 2010

Well. its been 4 months now since ive been using the 42" Lg jazz and here's what I wanted to share with others looking at this LCD as an option.

The picture clarity is good, no issues there. It more or less depends on the print or signal clarity you get from DTH services. Ive watched a few Blue ray movies on it and the results are simply amazing:)The USB and HDMI cable slots to the right side are quiet usefull as its easy to change pen drives often with out much difficulty after the tv is wall mounted.

I Have particularly found the HDMI slot usefull now days as the Laptop can be connected using a 2.0 HDMI cable that transfers video and sound both. Extremely usefull to surf the net on the big screen and listen to music from the 700 W virtual surround speakers.

Here are a few things I discovered after buying the TV1) the TVs USB connection reads pen drives but not external HDD coz there is no support for NTFS file systems where as USB devices are often Fat 32.

2) If you pause a move for more then 2 mins the movie starts all over again and has to be forwarded.

3) The sound is generally very good if the clear voice is set to level 5 or 6. However at 5.1 virtual surround sound the sound clarity goes down considerably and its hard to understand what  the movie characters are saying:(

Overall after the first few days of frustration of the Tv not being delivered ive been satisfied with the product.

the Tv is good in terms of features/ clarity(sound and video both) and it has HDMI support.

For the price I paid I dont think I could have got a better deal.

THIS IS A GOOD PRODUCT FROM LG:)

LG plasma TV - My proudest possession

I was planning to buy a 42” TV. Its wasn’t easy with all the models, features and brands. I searched over the internet and decided this LG 42PQ60R. The following are few tips that would help to make your choice.

Take a look at this very useful link “Plasma TV buying guide”

newegg.com/product/CategoryIntelligenceArticle.aspx?articleId=204

LCD Vs Plasma:

Plasma TV has many advantages over LCD. Most importantly it has better black levels giving you very clear picture. There is absolutely no motion blur while watching fast moving images like sports or action movies. And its cheaper than similar sized LCD.

Panasonic Vs LG:

I was bent to take Panasonic even for its higher price, as I heard that Panny are no. in plasma TVs. I had a side by side comparison of Panasonic and LG plasma TVs at Reliance Digital. I couldn’t answer my brother when he asked why shouldn’t we pick LG over Panny. They both look very same. I experimented with different settings, but I couldn’t find any negatives with LG. Panasonic has SD card. One of the most useful feature of LG is USB port which could play Divx movies directly without the need of a DVD player.

I got this LG for Rs. 40, 900 all incl. from LG Shoppee, Abids, Hyd. Similar sized Panasonic PV8 was costing me Rs.52, 000 with lower contrast ration, no USB port.

This TV looks great on my wall and has very many connectors on its back and side. The DTH settop box connects with composite cables. I purchased 2 cables. HDMI to DIV-D : to connect my desktop computer (behind the wall, cable runs through the wall, see picture), and HDMI-HDMI cable to connect my laptop with the TV. I use this TV as my computer screen and watch movies, showcase “My pictures” to everyone watching TV in the hall. There may be many new models with better features now. But, I love this TV and since August, when I first bought this TV, I haven't had a single complaint. So, if you are looking for a 42”, then do consider this model and you’ll not be disappointed.

One more piece of advice. All the display TVs in the showrooms are adjusted to high brightness. The videos you see are Full Definition videos and will anyway look great. But, most of the time you’ll be seeing Cable/DTH programs on your TV. So, I recommend you ask them to play some DTH channels or take your own DVD and ask them to play and see how it looks on different TVs.

I couldn't end this review without thanking LG for making advanced technology affordable. I would like to know if anyone is using any voltage stabilizer for this TV and is it needed?

This was the last TV I had before my recent upgrade to a 50".Yes men do like to boast about their size, but now its their TV, and I love having a huge one.

An excellent TV.

It is incredibly slim, and surprisingly light for its size. It also comes with numerous ports for different connections. Every connection type you can imagine is here, so whether you just use the basic scart leads for everything, or you feed from your PC, or you like to have the highest quality picture an sound at all times, this TV will cater for it.

I never had a problem with it, and it still works now( I gave it to my sister). Installation was incredibly easy, with freeview built in everything tuned itself with a couple of simple button presses. I was then able to arrange them as I liked. Plenty of channel options so I could have DVD and numerous video game consoles all connected.

The audio was excellent quality, not tinny or rattling like some Tv audio can be.

The best feature though was the quality of picture, as crisp and clear as you could wish.

On my video games.

for the TV and basic DVD's etc, not so much. But that is a problem with this technology not this TV. This technology requires the input image quality to be better than a basic TV aerial or plain DVD. My sister though, has Sky HD and a Blu Ray player, and the pictures from both through this TV are incredible. The only downside is that this TV is susceptible to image burn-in. A common side effect of using video games, the way the images or created and transmitted burns them into the image, so often, when watching something on a black screen you can see some evidence of the previous image from a video game. Fortunately its not always noticeable, however this is something this TV does suffer from. So be careful of that.

Over all I WOULD recommend this TV as both a gaming TV as it produces an excellent picture quality, and is well priced, and for general TV viewing as it is still a very good TV regardless of the issues inherent in the technology, plus, when used with other technology that supplies HD quality, this TV then reproduces it in truly superb quality.

Good Product package; Bad Customer Service

I purchased this TV and its a great product when it works. In about a month's time, we discovered that the TV does not switch on / goes off intermittently. When it works, it shows the picture and sound, but it just refuses to go ON. Some basic flaw. We call the LG customer care and engineer shows up and says that some part needs to be replaced. And the guy just vanishes and after that a few calls to the call center, to the manager - who says in the next half an hour someone will come to your house and fix it.

When you purchase a 60000 rupee product and when you get a this kind of treatment, you feel that LG is cheating you. These guys don't even have the decency to followup and tell what;s going on? I want my TV replaced with a brand new piece - can someone help?

LG you listening?
