Hi All of U would have faced difficulty when u try to copy a large file in a floppy or when u try to upload a large file in ur yahoo briefcase etc.
U wud have though if there were an utility which allows to split my file and join them when required. All Software guys may be aware of this Utility.
I myself faced trouble when I tried to upload my java .ear file in my yahoo briefcase.I was asked to use this Utility by one of my friends.
HJSplit2.2 is a 95/98/NT/2000/ME program is an useful utility to split any type and any size of files into smaller chuncks and joining them afterwards. U can copy the smaller chuncks on disks. It is an exe when clicked opens up a small screen with buttons Split,Join,Compare,CheckSum. when u want to split a larger file, just click the Split button which opens another small screen which has a Input file button clicking on it opens a file dialog as u see in the normal window OS.
Below it U have a text box on which u enter the size of the file to split and a listbox allows to choose the file in kb or mb.
Choose the file and click on the start button.U get the message file split.
Actually the files are split in smaller chunks and named with extensions filename.001,filename.002...etc. Similarly u can join the split files into a single file.
The Compare and checksum buttons helps us to ascertain that the total size of split files and the original file are same.
CheckSum: Create a checksum of the large original file by pressing 'checksum' in the main window. Split the file Join the file Create a checksum of the joined file Compare the two checksums. It will be same.
Compare: Split the file Join the split-files on the same computer press 'compare' in the main window and in the compare window select the original and the '.joined' file.
This utility can be downloaded from https://freebyte.com.
