Known As Best Security Software(NORTON)
Jul 14, 2017 12:58 PM 1174 Views

Norton Internet Security is best known as removing virus from computer, mobiles, and the viruses coming from the internet.According to my point of view Norton Internet security 2005 is not good as per now ERA.

Because 2005 is 12 years old from not there are millions and trillion viruses are producted every year. so we need to update this time by time and now windows 10 is coming that sometimes not supported the software beyond windows 7 so my suggestion is to not download this software and dont wasting your time.

This is a very old piece of software that cannot properly protect new systems. Norton is a very heavy anti virus and uses a lot of CPU power and makes your computer very slow.

Also because it is so old, it is not well optimised for newer platforms like Windows 10 and new Mac OS Sierra.

Even Android phones would not benefit from this software.

Norton also does not use the latest technology as per the standards

Please do not buy, total waste of money.

Norton Internet Security 2006 - Complete Security
Feb 16, 2006 12:13 AM 2497 Views

Norton internet security 2006 consists of following symantec solutions:

-Norton Antivirus 2006

-Norton Personal Firewall 2006

-Norton Antispam

-Norton Protection Center

-Norton Parental Control

Norton Antivirus

============

Norton Antivirus, is uncomparable in the breeds of antivirus solutions.Now it detects and quarantines Spyware,adware,diallers automatically during the scans.Also, when the utility receives new malware definitions, it runs a background quick scan. The product's Bloodhound heuristic protection, configurable at three levels, attempts to block threats that don't yet have definitions, and Auto-Protect, enabled by default, scans all files on access, watching for activity that suggests the presence of malware.You can schedule a full, quick, or custom scan to run daily, weekly, monthly, at startup, or any time the system is idle. The antivirus scans incoming and outgoing e-mail as well as files received through AOL, MSN, or Yahoo! instant-messaging services.

Installation and setup

==================

Installing NIS is a real trouble for impatient users, and even longer on a system bogged down by spyware. On a infected system NIS repeatedly took well over an hour to install and locked up before completing its initial configuration.Unfortunately, this may be beyond the skills of the average user. But once installed it will keep you away from internet threats.

Scanning Spyware

============

This is the area where norton has worked a lot to improve its products. A strong protection from spyware is provided through NAV. No other Antispyware software is needed. It even outperforms the most effective standalone antispyware (Webroot SS,Pest Patrol).NIS offers just three choices when it detects a spyware: run a quick scan, ignore this threat in all future scans, or ignore it for 30 minutes. New in this version is specific protection against Internet Explorer home-page hijacking, though there's no blocking of search-page hijacks and similar exploits.NIS automatically quarantines the worst spyware. You get a choice for medium and low-risk items, and can also choose to restore items quarantined in error or to submit suspicious files to Symantec for analysis.

Norton Antispam

===========

Norton AntiSpam is available only as a part of NIS, it filters POP3 e-mail accounts and prefixes to the subject line of suspected spam.NAS flexibly integrates with Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, and Eudora. To improve accuracy, a Bayesian filter improves analyzes your outgoing e-mails and any messages whose categorization you correct by clicking the This is spam and This is not spam buttons.At your choice, you can block mail in any of about 150 languages, from Abkhazian to Zulu. Mail from senders on your Allowed list always gets through; mail from senders on your Blocked list never does. The product can populate the Allowed list from your address book and outgoing mail automatically, and can add senders of messages you flag as spam or not spam to the appropriate list.An option lets you block all e-mail from unknown senders, but as NIS doesn't include a challenge-response method to allow desirable new contacts, this isn't useful for most people. NAS will automatically block messages containing suspicious elements such as invisible text, HTML forms, and phishing-style obscured URLs. A complete e mail security for naive users.

Parental Control

============

This tool is very much useful to protect children from abusive sites. It is optional but I recommend to turn it on. there are categories of sites which you can select from (humar,sex,jokes etC).

SO, Enjoy your connection to the world. Norton Internet Security™ 2006 gives you the confidence to travel the Internet like never before, protected against viruses, hackers, spyware, and spam. A comprehensive set of security tools, Norton Internet Security helps keep you safe online as you surf and email, swap files, download programs, and chat.

On an all, Norton Internet Security 2006 is best in its segment.

NO doubt that it is one of the most trusted antivirus of all. I have following reviews about it: Main advantage: auto detection and auto cleaning of virus. It scans automatically and clean on its own.

CONS: 1.your RAM memory is eaten. (PC will run slowly). Booting also gets slow.

2.During Live update Internet connection runs slowly.

3.Does not delete W32,Sybot.worm

4.Many times after action performed , it asks for restarts ( I removed it for this reason)

Also purchasing price is bit too high so you can go for AVG which is good.

For spyware and other features no need to purchase this,there are no of absolutely free and even strong s/w are there.

Spyware is not really special , go for others.

And about last version , I had lot of problem uninstalling it (lot of registry invalid entries encountered) it affected my booting.

i ran this version from CD SO WATCH OUT FOR THIS ALSO.(whether it removes previous version properly)

NIS 2005 its OK

I have used the Norton Internet Security 2005 and have the following to share :

Its better than ZoneAlarm as it comes integrated with their Norton Anti Virus software.

All the bugs including any licensing issues get fixed by the technical support staff and the site has all the fixes listed to it.

The only problem is getting it to work for the first time. Once everything is turned out it should stay that way for a long time. Also there are many features which could be better explained helping you toy around with them. There should be more help on usage and best practices to be followed on their website.

The other probelms you might encounyer are the innumerable security alerts which you will be bombarded with making usage a hassle. So there is a lot of fine tuning that needs to be done on this software yourself to make it comfortable for usage. Most of the time the alerts are all harmless so you need to make sure they dont keep appearing often for certain usage and doing this can get a little tricky and messy. The help and manuals can take a lot of time to understand for this particular product as each product tries to come up with its own set of vocabulary to deal with the same problems users face. SO unncessary time is spent in trying to udnerstand their jargon and if you got the best in terms of security after reading on firewalls.

Also Symantec could have tried more to educate the customer in terms of best practices while using the product and more help on fine tuning the product apart from the customary help that comes packaged with this product.

The internet is a jungle you may never know what wild animal may attack you without your knowledge, if you have no experience in tackling such situations you may either need a guide or a bodyguard.

Symantec's Norton Internet Security 2005 does the same to your computer; it acts like a Deadly Ninja, protecting your computer from all kinds of attacks on your computer. The whole package provides Excellent antivirus and firewall protection. Very good protection against spam. Prevents sending private data over IM, e-mail, and the Web (but allows site-specific exceptions). Parental control account is tied to Windows log-on.

Norton Internet Security 2005 bundles Norton AntiSpam 2005 (NAS) Norton Antivirus 2005 Norton Personal Firewall 2005 Norton Internet Security does an impressive job of working like one product instead of a bunch - and working with next to no intrusion, for the majority of users who'll follow its default setup of automatic, background operation for everything from catching and curing virus-infected downloads to fetching the latest program updates and virus signatures from Symantec's Live Update servers (the price includes one year's subscription).

A new Worm Blocking feature checks outbound e-mails so you won't be guilty of passing along the next Sircam; Symantec says the scheme, like its Script Blocking sibling, can recognize and stop malicious behavior even before a new baddie has been added to the signature list. An impressive real-time protection that keeps you at peace always, the only annoying this is that every time you are attacked or an attack is made you get a pop-up, or any program that is trying to access the internet you get a pop-up so in order to stop that you manually need to configure the firewall security settings Overall this product is the only option you have if you want to be safe on the internet.

There's nothing else on the market quite this powerful and uniquely comprehensive: antispam, antivirus, firewall, privacy control, parental control, pop-up blocking, ActiveX & Java blocking all in one, highly configurable package? It's quite a useful accomplishment which continues to improve with each new release. Pop-ups of every description were quietly blocked. Symantec's Live Update feature regularly and automatically updated the virus, pop-up and spam profiles. The firewall operated flawlessly blocking all external access attempts by random and nameless assailants, Norton Internet Security 2005 works as advertised and then some. You need this. Highly recommended.

Symantec is offering an antispyware solution that's decidedly different from its competition. Rather than release a standalone antispyware application, as McAfee and others have, Symantec has bundled its new antispyware technology entirely within its existing Norton Internet Security (NIS) suite, calling it the Norton Internet Security 2005 Antispyware Edition (beta). Symantec believes that spyware is not a new problem, but a variation of malicious code already available on the Internet. In Symantec's opinion, spyware deserves to be treated more like computer viruses than something different and new.

Upside:

By taking the stance that there's a very thin line between malicious virus code and malicious spyware, Symantec created its antispyware scanning engine similar to the one used within its Norton AntiVirus app. But unlike the antivirus scanner, which automatically quarantines viruses without user input, the Norton antispyware scanner informs you of all suspected instances of spyware. For each, Symantec recommends action but ultimately leaves the decision of whether to quarantine a questionable app up to you. If you're uncertain about what to do, Symantec further defines each threat using one or more of the following criteria: performance impact, privacy impact, ease of removal, stealth installation, and prevalence. For example, if you're a gamer and you're concerned about system speed, you might want to remove all suspected spyware that has an adverse performance impact.

Downside:

Unfortunately, Norton Internet Security 2005 suite is a resource hog, and the addition of a new antispyware scanning engine within Norton Internet Security 2005 Antispyware Edition (beta) is bound to slow older PCs. Also, there are already many excellent and free antispyware alternatives, such as Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-aware SE Personal Edition, and Microsoft Antispyware (beta). Norton Internet Security 2005 Antispyware Edition is currently a public beta available for download; however, the final, retail version, expected later this summer, should sell for about $70 and requires an annual update subscription fee of about $20.

Outlook:

Norton Internet Security is perhaps the most popular Internet security suite on the market, so widespread adoption is almost guaranteed. This will put added pressure on the paid third-party apps to either align with a competing security company or rethink their business model entirely. It will not, however, mean the demise of the free alternatives, which you should continue using since no single antispyware app alone removes everything. Check back this summer for a review of the final Norton release.

Norton Internet Security 2005...Snail Ur Computer

If any of you have used Norton Products before (n I am sure most of u have) and u TRUST AND LIKE them, do not use the Norton Internet Security 2005. Do u remember those 486 PC or even the P1 and PII's about 5 years ago on which having a 32 MB RAM was considered God?

Well....NIS 2005 will bring back the same feeling, when even after entering ur password in the welcome screen (I assume most of us use windows xp) for about 5 minutes nothin can be seen coz the NIS icon has not yet appeared in the taskbar.

I have a PIV 2.4 GHz 256 MB RAM and it worked like a Pentium Celeron with 32 MB RAM....until I had the sense to remove NIS 2005 and install Norton AntiVirus 2005 instead, true it doesnt provide for a firewall and antispam but then what's ZoneAlarm for?

And you know something else about this...it is INCOMPATIBLE, every five seconds (yes you read it right 5 seconds) you wud get a new alert specially when u r on the internet. Even adding the application on the alert to your trusted list doesn't help. Neither does checking the box saying ''do not display alert for ....problem again''.
