My experience with Zoomcar Chennai has been horrible. I planned for a 1300 kms family trip with kids and elderly and rented a zoomcar, assuming the car will be of good condition. I booked an XUV500. A customer care representative called me 2 days prior to the trip and said that, the XUV500 that I have booked met with an accident and there is no XUV500 available in the entire Chennai.
Considering that it was a long weekend, I understood the demand for cars. I asked for alternate options, and he said there is one Scorpio available and did not give me any time to think. He said he needs to block it immediately or it will be gone too. Having planned the trip well in advance, paid for the hotels, I did not want to cancel the trip and hence agreed for Scorpio.
The renting experience was not pleasant and the person showed me the car. The car was full of scratches and dents(attached pic). I took pictures of the entire car, to make sure I am not getting charged for any dents that I did not create.
The initial few kms were within the city and I did not feel anything strange. Once I hit the highway, the car started to wobble even at 60 km/hr in fifth gear. The car did not handle well at all. I had to drive this car on ghat roads as well. Engine noise was very evident on the road, everyone on the road started staring at the vehicle. It was a terrible drive. The tyre gave up and I could see the metal strings hanging out. 1300 kms was like hell.
Zoomcar has this habit of calling the customers at the last moment and inform them that the car they have booked is unavailable for some reasons and give them one alternate option. They know very well that a trip that is planned in advance cannot be canceled and people will accept for the option. They give spare cars which are very ill-maintained and thereby risking your life.
I risked my entire family’s life by renting a car with zoom. I will never ever rent a car, nor will I recommend zoom to anyone else.
