Prelude:
I guess the Expectations from this movie was Sky - High. This was coming from the House of Akthars who have been responsible in giving some of the most astounding movies in recent times- Be it Lakshya, Luck By Chance, Rock on or Dil Chahta hai(which took Movie-Making to an altogether new level). Add to this the unconventional Abhay Deol, the super-stud Hritik Roshan and Katrina Kaif-the sexy siren that she is, and you have a Must-Watch which ought not be missed. The fact that I did not get tickets on Friday or Saturday had my excitement multipled by many folds(I am a firm believer of the fact that the Box Office speaks volumes about a movie's Quality).
ZMND - As it is:
If you have watched the Hollywood Flick The HangOver, you might feel that the movie has its theme in line with The HangOver where three folks go to celebrate the bachelors Party of their soon-to-be married friend. And all the similarities that ZMND might have had with The HangOver ends here. While The HangOver was more about bachelors night-outs before the marriage, ZMND is about fighting with your inner fears and the satisfaction of coming out triumphant from it.
Kabir(Abhay Deol) is getting married in a couple of months and thus plans a 3-Week Bachelors Trip to Spain with his best friends Arjun(Hritik Roshan) and Imran(Farhan Akthar). They had made each other a promise that during the vacation, each one will choose an adventure sport and all of them have to try that out. Thus starts a journey of a lifetime where in each one clashes with his inner self and fights with the fear that he has been living with since years. The satisfaction after coming out triumphant from your greatest fears changes your life for ever.
Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara - Might not be an out and out great movie, but it makes you think; It makes you peep into your inner soul and ask yourself the Question- Are we living our life to the fullest? The answer most definitely will be a NO. By spending hours and days in planning and worrying for our
future, we forget to admire life and let pass the golden moments of today.
Performances:
I guess this is one movie where you just cannot make out as to who the main protagonist is. Each of the chracters has been such finely carved, that you just cannot help but applaud Zoya Akthar(The Director) for her stupendous effort on the film. Even with a minute cameo, the acting prowess of the Great
'Naseeruddin Shah' is on full display and he ends up making a deep impact on the film. Farhan Akhtar, Hritik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif and kalki Koechlin - everyone is in top notch form. And now a special mention of Javed Akhtar. His poetries that are recited by Farhan Akhtar during the course of the
movie are absolute World-Class Stuff.
Music:
Most of the sound tracks are good.
Cinematography:
The cinamatography by Carlos Catalan is top-notch.
My 2 Cents:
I would go with a rating of 4/5 for the Theme, Performances, Music and Javed Sahab's World Class Poetry!
Cheers-
