Thriller has been intimidating genre for film makers as its outcome remains quite unpredictable in India, especially when it has new cast. Maker's of Zid were courageous in attempting to make one.

Movie has a beautiful portrayal of Goa. Unusually low lights somehow adds to the beauty of screenplay. The story of movie is nothing extraordinary. Set up is formidable.

Karan(Rohan) is a journalist who shifts into Maya's(Mannara) neighboring house. Maya falls in love at first sight. Her love gets turned into obsession and she hates any girl who tries to come close to Karan. One night, after a party, on the way back home, Maya and Karan meet an accident on a dark lonely road.

The person who dies is Karan's colleague. The following investigation by Inspector Moses(Denzil Smith) reveals that the cause of victim's death was not accident. Soon we are introduced to victim's step sister, Priya(Shraddha Das), who turns out to be Karan's ex-girlfriend. Maya envies Priya. From then the story becomes interesting. Inspector Moses doubts Priya over her inheritance of Victim's property. As both, Maya and Priya, seem to have vested interest in Victim's death, it is unclear till the end who actually is the murderer.

The scene in which Maya catches Karan making love to Priya is dramatic. Also, climax is something fresh to Bollywood and that is what makes this movie once a watch.

Cast performance is just average. Rohan goes overboard in portraying a petrified character of Karan. But since he is a debutant, his mistakes are totally forgivable. Mannara is terrifying as psychic Maya but disappointing at places.Shraddha Das, as always, looks very pretty as Priya and unexpectedly, more sizzling than Mannara. Denzil Smith who plays Inspector Moses and Mohan Kapoor who portrays as the Editor of Karan's newspaper were not upto the mark.

Zid has got some thrilling and scary moments even though it is not a horror flick. Death of Karan's puppy Bobby is highly exaggerated and unwanted incorporation in the story. Maya seems quite more daring being a girl than Karan as she fixes the short circuit. Karan developing sudden vertigo on arrival at new home seems absurd. There are few more such blemishes throughout the movie.

Music is good and intriguingly composed. Songs are lovely and soothing, Tu Zaroori, Saanson Ko and Mareez-e-Ishq grows in.

To conclude, Zid is one time watch thriller with interesting story, some sizzling moments and a fresh climax but with its own share of flaws. Watch it with less expectations and you will enjoy.
