Awadhoot Gupte is his first film itself has shown a great maturity as a ‘Director’ and ‘Writer’. The only field he has let public down is ‘Music’ of the film which was supposed to be his ‘Home ground’. Except the ‘title song’, other songs are very average and gives a feeling of Bollywood’s impact on Awadhoot. Nevertheless, the movie keeps glued audiences to their chair for entire time and there lies a success of a movie. The plot of the movie is the regional political divide between the ‘Sarpotdaar’ family whose ‘Kakasaheb’ is one of the most influential political leader of ‘Maharashtra’. Movie starts itself with the ‘Gharaneshahi’ of politics, as Kakasaheb chooses his son ‘Prashant’ (Pushakar Shroti) as his successor.

The entire movie revolves around the consequences of this great political divide between two cousins and its effect on the ‘Marathi’ party workers. The movie reveals how these big political leaders use their fanatic party workers for their selfish motives of ‘Shakti pradarshan’ for the political gains. Four young minds and four different views have been very intelligently shown in this movie.

Santya (Santosh Juvekar) is a drop out student who is committed party worker of ‘Jan Sena’ and his friend Umesh (Siddharth Chandekar) is highly qualified worker of same party who decides to follow ‘Maharashtra Samrajya sena’ party as he thinks that ‘Rajesh’ (Rajesh Shringarpure) is the next big leader in Maharashtra politics and a true leader of youth. The relationship between these friends become bitter due to their political commitments towards their parties. The youth leader of Jan Sena from Kolhapur played by Chinmay Mandlekar is the third youth in the movie whose political ambitions and dreams gets shattered due to strategic decisions of ‘Rajesh Sarpotdaar’.The Event manager ‘Aaditya’ (Sachit patil) who turns out to be a script writer-cum- advisor of Rajesh Sarpotdar has been shown the most intelligent youth of the four who uses this political battle for his own benefits and develops lot of political connections.

The writer of the film (Awadhoot Gupte) has tried to keep the balance between both the parties and kept entire movie revolving around these youth and tried to make very clear what he exactly wants to convey to ‘marathi manus’. He has succeeded in avoiding any controversy by doing so: at the same time given a food for thought to youth who blindly follow political leaders. He has really handled this highly sensitive issue very tenderly yet effectively. The casting of this movie is the plus point. Santosh Juvekar, Chinmay Mandlekar, Sidharth Chandekar and Sachit Patil all have given proper justice to characters. Not a single moment of the movie is forcefully added (except songs). Screenplay by Sachin Darekar is excellent in the movie.Apart from this Tejashree Pradhan, Neha Joshi, Shubhangi Gokhale, Ujwala Jog have played their supporting part properly.

Overall you must watch this movie if you really want to see a powerful performances by Marathi actors Santosh Juvekar and other. The message of the movie is very clear. It's an eye opener for the youth who doesn't use their minds and follow political leader blindly.

Finally, three cheers to 'Awadhoot Gupte'. Zenda is worth watching.
