Youtube has become the entertainment destination of millions of the new generation internet users. with many channels now live streaming on youtube, Television has now become obsolete. But a new music app from google was surprising for me as it already has the google play music and to enter into a arena already ruled by Apple music and spotify would seem like suicide but then it is Google after all. The experience of using this app was mind boggling though, definitely on par with its rivals and in some ways clearly better.
The app's home screen allows you to personalise your music preferences using the "my station" functionality which uses your music playing history to select the music you like and to my surprise it get it almost perfectly. I think it uses your historical search queries both on Google and on youtube to get this right. Many users have a very long history of viewing music videos and songs on youtube and this feature certainly helps
Apart from that you also have standard genre based settings that helps you set the music according to your liking, this again is better customised using your search history. There is also an audio only mode for those frugal internet users and helpful in the band width deficient scenario in the country. The app is beautifully and intuitively designed and you wont need much time to get used to it.
Overall, yet another great product from Google. My rating 5/5
