Yelagiri Hills:
Yelagiri Hills is located on route between Chennai and Bangalore. Yellagiri
offers a wonderful get away for weekends. It’s not yet commercialized and
very easy to access by road or train. The nearest train station is
Jolarapet, app 20 km
Yelagiri hills varies from 3000 to 3500 feet above sea level… there are
about 13 villages on the hill and most of the habitants are farmers. There
are a few hotels and resorts to cater to the needs of tourists.
On top of Yelagiri hills there is a man made lake, which is managed by the
Govt. of Tamil Nadu. There is water throughout the year, which is big enough
for people to enjoy boating and enjoy the surrounding hills and the scenery.
There is also a lovely park for people to have long walks and to play on the
swings etc…the path also winds around the lake for a nice long walk.
An ideal place for people to visit and get away from the noise and pollution
of big cities… there is not precious much you can do on the hill which is
ideal for people to spend time with their families, and there is a sense of
being close to nature.
