The yamaha rx100...launched in 1985 this bike had chaqnged the very perception about 100cc bikes which were a relatively new concept in 80s in india & people were sceptical about their performance in indiqn conditions..
Indian market were dominated by 350cc , 250cc & was leaded by yamaha rx100s indian parent company esc*rts rajdoot 175cc.
Infact prior to rx100 the company had launched the big brother of rx100 ie rd350 in india as rajdoot350.yet that was a failed tale...as indian peoples were not mature enough to accept that kinda performer..So rd350 was a failed product...
Infact it was the time wen govt of india had adopted liberal entry policy of foreign auto giants through joint-ventures..Indian market was flooded wid many JVs like esc*rts yamaha.kawasaki bajaj, tvs-suzuki , hero honda to name a few...Although the leader of this show was no doubt herohonda cd100 due to its unique fuel consumption ...but in power performer rx100 got a cult status which every other 100 cc bike brand had aspired to achieve in 80s...

Wellll technically rx100 was a 98cc single cylinder air cooled engine with 4 gears...It was a high torque 2stroke performer with initially 6volts electrical system which latter was upgraded to 12v ignition...In 1996 this bike was stopped from production due to stringent emmission norms...Although the esc*rts had tried to introduce sum other models to cash on popularity of rx100 yet they were a failure like rxg, rx135 or even stylish rxz all were unsuccessfull models..
The very gaap of rx100 was filled by 2strokers like samurai & shogun n latter by cbz n pulsars..The strong connection of this bike can be attributed by the fact that in india yamaha is still at large known by rx100 identity..every model of yamaha is compared with performance of rx100..and as a result yamaha despite of being worlds number 2..in india is number 4...
