While researching on a very nondescript topic a month ago, I was looking to collect all the information that I could, and it is during that time I decided to try Yahoo search.
I have been using Google since my inception into internet, and so was quite excited to try something different. Went to search.yahoo.com and typed in my queries. However what came out was non-contextual. It did have the words that I have used in my queries, but apart from that the websites listed there did not have the information that I was looking for.
I tried with a few more permutations of the search words and the success rate was close to 60%. This was way below what I was used to with Google. Seems that the search algorithm of Yahoo was not good enough to cater to my queries.
Also it seemed that while the most relevant searches in Google are available in the first few pages, with Yahoo search I found a few relevant pages tucked in the later pages while the initial pages were no good to me.
Verdict: May give it a try once a while.
