I've just wanted to buy a 5" touch screen phone at a very affortable budget and I came across about 15 phones of the brands Micromax, Byond, Intex, Karbonn and Lava. Finally after a long survey I've decided that I should go for 2 mobiles i.e., Micromax Canvas HD and Lava Xolo A1000.
I have already used Canvas from my friend and it was decent. The main reason I wanted this is its form factor. Right when I saw it in Youtube I've decided to go for it. But I was skeptic about UI and internal make because it was Local Brand and there were no proper service centres.
I was WRONG by miles.
The phone has exceeded my expectations in every way, I've been using for more than 3 weeks and im more than happy.Let me detail you the performance category wise.
Size : 5" inch, its actually big when you compare it with other phones besides this, but still easily fits in pocket, and it s not that heavy, feels light and look and feel is extra slim.
Look: A typical standout in a crowd of mobiles, a definite head turner and I made lot of new friends just because of the phone, ultra classic look beats any branded phones in Looks department.Get ready for special attention from ur friends!
Battery : this is a major feature and I was happy that it lasted about 30 hours with both sim s being used+wifi_on+hd games+camera. I could not complain anything about this and its selfish to ask more.
Display : HD 1280*720, keep any other smartphone beside this, n still this will look more grand n classic, perfect for games, hd movies, I just cannot describe, just have a live demo in any outlet.
Touch-Response : frankly, this is Average, not silk-smooth like Htc or Apple but better than Samsung, still its fine. Typing is comfortable, but u cannot type very fast.
Camera : Really good, bright clear pictures but video recording is below average, anyways I didn't buy it for the camera so no issues for me.
Games : Mind - blowing, every game works n no lag no matter wat, ive observed that bigger games makes the phone Hot after usage of 40 min
Calls & Speaker : This feature is also below average, the sound of receiver end is very low, I tested with different sims and got the same output, even the speaker volume is a bit low. The only solution - Headphones.
Music : The headphones are designed for Bass and not clarity, so songs like pop, hip-hop are good but any classical or mild songs does not hear to be effective.
Overall, I suggest you to go for it, if your looking for the same things which I have been looking for, I've used all branded phones like Apple, Htc , Blackberry still I went for this because of the LOOKS and it did not disappoint me.
