I ordered "Redmi 10 Prime"(6+128 GB, Black) through AMAZON(Invoice No: FHYE-38416, Invoice Details: TG-FHYE-179184911-2223) on 20-11-2022 & it was delivered quickly on 21-11-2022 in 1 day only. The mobile worked ok-ok for initial few days but then it didn’t work properly & started giving following troubles:
1> Phone Doesn’t Ring / Ringtones Not Working / No Sound'Properly':
While someone was calling, RTs weren’t working properly, just silent call was there, without any RT or sound. On reboot, sometimes it played the tone & sometimes not. But, mostly it was silent. The same defect was with RT of "whatsapp voice call", where no sound of "fixed RT" played. So this abnormal sound & RT problem troubled a lot.
2> Phone Shut Down Abnormally While Use / Data Transfer:
While using the phone, it shut down abnormally & automatically. The problem was more when I tried to transfer data using USB Cable. The data wasn’t transferred but after sometime, the phone shut down automatically. So this shutdown issue also troubled a lot.
3> Data Cables not Working Properly in Data Transfer:
While trying to transfer data using USB from laptop, some data was transferred while other wasn’t. After repeated tries too, the problem persisted & then I had to use other means like Bluetooth, ShareMe App, or uploading data to Gmail & downloading from there, but then it took 1 hr. long time for a mere 5/10 mins. work using cable. So, the data cable wasn’t working properly.
4> Certain Apps Not Working / Crashing:
Since, it barely became 7 days since I bought the phone, it was hardly used. But then also, many apps started crashing & not working at all like MX player, Opera Browser, video players, Truecaller etc. Either, they weren’t working at all & crashing or working for sometime but after reboot, the same problem continued again.
So I faced the above 4 manufacturing defects in this device "Redmi 10 Prime" in 7 days only(within Limited Warranty Period as claimed by Mi). I was unable to access many other basic features too, but above 4 were the chief issues. I tried my best by changing settings, rebooting phone in hope that the problems will be resolved. But it didn't & the defects still persisted. Seeing no option left, I finally called AMAZON CUSTOMER CARE & informed them about the problems & requested for replacement. But they refused "politely" stating that the replacement window closed on 28-11-2022(since it was for 7 days only with AMAZON) & further advised to visit nearby Service Centre of XIAOMI/Mi, as the replacement there will be for 10 days. I was convinced with this reply bcoz Amazon had previously also "taken back faulty products delivered to me & refunded full amount to my bank account". So, after this talk, accordingly, I visited the Xiaomi SC in "Meridian Plaza, Ameerpet, Hyderabad" & informed them about the defects, but the receptionist & the manager there, both "refused to replace the same", rather advised for "service of mobile & software update". But I didn’t accept & insisted for "replacement only" as mobile was purchased just 1 week ago & still was in “Limited Warranty Period” by citing all defects & warranty claims by Xiaomi within 10 days period from delivery.
This staff there refused to cooperate on that & rather than initiating a replacement request, they submitted the phone to see the defects & assured to reply me within few hours. But after that, they didn’t update me even a single time about the progress, not picking my phone calls, not giving any replies of my texts but when asked about it on next day visit, they just gave lame excuses that they were busy in meetings. So clearly, they were just lying in order to avoid to answer my query, & thus the SC wasn't providing a "Proper Professional Service"(copies of screenshots of all call logs, text sms & whatsapp sms filed in the consumer court now)
Also, the Service Centre issued receipt dated: 30.11.2022 stating the fault description only as “USB Cable Data Transmission Fault” while I showcased all defects to the SC staff on the spot, but the manager wrote only 1 reason in receipt & not included other 3 defects, in fear that by mentioning all 4 defects, he would have to replace the mobile as per company policy & rules which he wanted to avoid, so he just admitted 1 defect only & suggested me to write other defects in remarks on my customer copy of the receipt. Thus, they refused to replace the faulty piece after being in warranty period of 10 days & cleverly avoided to mention all defects on receipt also.
Coming from there in evening, I tried to register a complaint with Mi Customer Support Hotline no. 1800-103-6286 but they also behaved the same; rudely, didn't cooperate & refused for replacement plainly. Then being disappointed from all sides, I wrote an email to Xiaomi Support Centre, Grievance Officer & Legal Officer on 1 Dec, 2022 detailing all the issues with timelines & demanded a quick replacement without any delay as it was also impacting my business issues. I just got their reply within few hours on same day & they assured me of quick resolution of replacement issue within next 3-4 days as I also warned them in that mail of taking a legal action if they didn't abide by the company policies & claims pre-purchase of phone.
Then they called me on 2 Dec, 6 Dec, 12 Dec. & everytime just asking about my issues with the phone, escalating matter to higher authorities & quickly resolving the issue but never updated me about the progress of what they did on the replacement. Meanwhile, they also behaved cleverly, dubiously, frequently changing their statements & just showing the lack of "Coordination, Professionalism, Timely Response" among their team members. So after taking 15 long days in just replacement issue, they finally updated me on 16 Dec, 2022 through whatsapp msg that the device is repaired & serviced & advised me to collect the repaired piece from their SC.
This "Careless, Time-Taking, Unprofessional & Lackadaisical" approach definitely infuriated, disappointed & annoyed me & I informed them there itself that now I was going to file a legal case/suite of "Cheating, Fraud, Not Abiding by Company Claims of Replacement Warranty" & for "Wasting my Valuable Time, disturbing Mental Peace & causing Business Losses" to me. Thus considering all these issues & their unprofessional approach, finally I approached Consumer Court, Hyderabad & filed a legal suite on company about all these issues. My Observations about this company are as under.
1. Till the device is working fine, no issues with company policies or services or claims made by them(obviously).
2. Once, you face any defect or problem with device, & try to replace the device as per rules, then suddenly you come to know that "XIAOMI COMPANY & Mi STORE IS A TOTAL FRAUD & CHEAT STORE" as they don't entertain your requests of replacement while it's in their "No Questions Asked" 10 days' limited period warranty policy of replacement if you face any of the above 4 defects.
3. They just take your more time, delaying the issue unnecessarily, giving you promises of escalating the issue to higher authorities & concerned teams, passing the time in whole process but at last, just inform you after 15-20 days about just the servicing & repairing, which is merely a 30 mins task. So, my TRUST is completely "broken & lifted" from this "Fraud Company Xiaomi/Mi" & they finally showed their true colors of being a Chinese Product & how they & their internal policies aren't consumer-friendly but just of "Cheating & Unprofessionalism". I'll advice others too to not trust this brand in terms of claims done by Xiaomi / Mi.
Finally, now I've taken the matter to Consumer Court of Hyderabad, served the company "Xiaomi / Mi" a legal notice & now the matter is subjudice & I hope that the company XIAOMI won't deal this LEGAL ISSUE lightly or casually as they did with me & I believe in the Indian Court of Law to get justice there by the Law of India.
