I am fond of watching reality shows and eagerly wait weekends. These days I am busy in X factor, so thought of sharing my views/ reviews on it.
History- You might be wondering that what can be the history of a show that started just 20 days back. But since I have noticed that the advertisements always claim this show as the biggest reality show in the world. Out of inquisitiveness I searched over net and got some amazing history of this show.
The X factor (Xtra Factor) is a television show that originated in UK in September 2004. It is a singing competition that is been held in various countries. The creator of this format is Simon Cowell.
This is the first time that this show is being aired in India.
Format- The show is primarily concerned with identifying singing talent, though appearance, personality, stage presence and dance routines are also an important element of the performances.
The competition is split into three categories:
Solo Singers aged 16–24,
Solo Singers aged 25 and over, and
Vocal Groups (including duos).
This is the only show where the performances are judged in a Live Concert.
Total 124 performers were selected from the audition round and after 3 rounds, 12 of these were selected for the final performances in the Live Concerts. These 12 performers are divided into three groups as mentioned above, and are performing as per the choices of one or other judges.
Mentors- The mentors of the show are three great personalities of Bollywood- Sanjay Leela Bhanshali, Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. These mentors are also the judges of this hsow. The show is being hosted by Aditya Narayan.
SLB is the mentor of the Vocal Group, SN is the mentor of below 25, and SG is the mentor of above 25.
Rewards and prizes- The winner will be awarded by Rs. 50 Lakh, a Tata Manza car and a recording contract worth Rs. 1 Crore by Sony BMG which includes a globally releasing album.
India's biggest film director Karan Johar has also confirmed in the inaugural show that the winner will work on a song in one of his film projects.
Every week, the judges collectively choose an act or group who achieved the best performance, and is rewarded an Onida Electronics LED Eye Care television as a gift.
Watch out for- There are 12 contestants in the show and all of them are good. But I would like to suggest that watch the show for some great and unique singing talent.
Amit Jadhav- Watch him for one of the rare combination of singing and dancing you have ever seen on Indian television. He is a great fan of Michael Jackson and that can be seen by his performances.
Deewana Group- This group has its upbringing in Sufi environment. Their first performance in live concert was amazing (Khwaja Mere Khwaja from Jodha Akbar). They have an impressive voice which binds you till the end.
Last Minute Group- This group consists of 8 girls of 16-18 years. They have the charm of youthfulness in their voices and dances. Watch it to relive your college days.
Nirmetee Group- This is the most surprising element of the show. They are masters in remixing songs. They are combo of hip hop, jazz, rap & pop.
Sajda Sisters- This is the group of three sisters. They have got amazing voices. All of them are confortable in their own voice ranges that results in a great performance.
Seema Jha- She is the youngest contestant of the show. She has boyish charm in her attitude and looks, but Lataji’s charm in her voice.
Kartar Singh Yadav- He is 65 yrs old and is a participant of this show, compteting with 17 yrs old. You will love to watch and listen him singing at this ripe age. An amazing and wonderful experience.
Timings- The show is been aired on Sony Entertainment Television on Friday and Saturday at 9 pm.
