World War Z- The disease is on a global scale, and the impact however is very close to home. The film brings on screen never before seen scenes of chaos in crowd, by letting the proverbial cat among the pigeons to wonderful effect. Action shifts from Pennsylvania, to Korea to Israel and finally to Wales in the 2 hour running time.
Brad Pitt, with age rightly showing on his face, is the central character. He plays the role of a former UN staffer and an anguished father to good effect. His family is safely evacuated onboard a USS Amphibious Assault ship that has been converted into a Command centre for the battle against the global epidemic. The UN boss, as a price for the four bunks his family occupies onboard, has him sent on a global quest for finding chinks in the armour of this new affliction. He is ably assisted in the mission by US Navy seals in initial part and then an Israeli woman soldier.
The sinking feeling, that ought to confront one before every calamity, has been well portrayed in the initial part with good acting from the young daughter. The rest of the film is about good visuals, fitting music and thrills that inane zombies bring with sprints faster than Usain Bolt’s. Once the plot is fully utilized(most of which is shown in the trailers), the director shuts shop just in time post extracting the right amount of grain from the grist. 4 Stars.
