Wipro is amongst 3-4 large companies in India that compete for IT service outsourcing.
This means that they go in and "manage" an organization's IT infrastructure, IT facilities and IT support because the organization doesn't want to hire, train and maintain IT staff and hardware/software themselves.
I've experienced the customer service of 3 of the 4 companies - Wipro, HCL and Infosys. I haven't experienced TCS as yet.
Wipro is by far the worst. I cannot stress on how bad it is. On a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is, say, the customer service of Enterprise Renta-a-Car(considered the world's best service), Wipro would be a minus 10.
I have not met or spoken to a single Wipro IT services employee who did give a damn or who was courteous or who was knowledgeable or who was professional. Not one.
This should not surprise anyone, because Wipro is legendary for its cheap business model. Hire below average people, give them none to below average training, bid on IT services projects at embarassingly low rates and populate these projects with tons of ignorant employees.
It's sort of like carpet bombing - you bomb the bejeezus out of an area and hope to kill a couple of bad guys.
I've had first had experience of their shoddy(mild word) customer service. Wipro IT department employees calling themselves "customer service executives" treat customers like dirt or worse, have no idea of the problems they create by messing with IT systems and end up shrugging their collective shoulders saying "we don't know what's wrong" and "no, you can't do that".
They claim to sell computers. The customer service of that department would make the devil rub his hands in glee and wait for those employees to come to him.
I would warn everyone to keep clear of them in all matters concerning IT, software, computers, hardware and related stuff.
