Windows 8 is an operating-system developed by the Microsoft Corporation a few years back. It was supposed to be the next best thing after Windows 7. It used the tagline “everything at once” to say the usefulness of the OS which is based entirely on tiles. It would’ve been a very good operating system but it wasn’t. These are some of the reasons why 90% of the population of Earth hates it.
Ease of Use:
One of the most complicated OS ever released by the computer world, Windows 8 was difficult even for people who had been using it for a year. Things like the Chance bar, which is a bar which pops out of the side of the screen when you bring your mouse pointer to the right side, is a nuisance about 99% of the time. Simple things such as turning off your computer is made difficult as you have to cycle through 3 or so options to finally get to the Shut Down button.
Design:
Windows 8 is good-looking but the looks don’t matter if the fashion destroys the function. “Everything at once” is beautiful to look at but it is as practical as a woollen sweater in the summer time. The straight lines have made a comeback after a long time. And it is refreshing to see someone go back to old fashioned themes.
Functions:
Lack of the much-loved Start Menu was one of the main reasons Windows 8 didn’t take off. There was a Start menu but it wasn’t the one we were expecting. A huge wall of tiles make finding something in the Start Menu very difficult to use. A new pop-up screen when you’re copying something has a neat little bar graph which is a nice little thing.
Final Verdict:
One of the worst OS ever released. If possible try to stay away from Windows 8 users as their stupidity might spread to you.
